So DH hit his positive results on Friday after becoming ill Tuesday.
We know how he got it most likely which was 4 days before.

I haven’t got symptoms yet but obviously will do my required isolation period.
What are the thoughts though - generally would I have symptoms by now? Feels like I constantly thinking about how I feel but trying not to.

Do generally all family members get it if one does ?

Testing negative for antibodies doesn't confirm that someone has not had covid. Plenty of confirmed cases went on to test negative for antibodies.

I think you are in with a good chance of not getting it though OP, household transmission is not a given by any means. I hope your DH has a mild and trouble free infection.

My sister swears she had it back in march before testing came in. She is an A&E nurse. Her boyfriend didnt seem to get it, although he may have and just showed no symptoms.

I know another man who tested positive 2 weeks ago. His wife tested positive 3 days later. Both are in their late 50s, and only had mild coughs.

SoPanny · 19/10/2020 05:44

Yep, a friend of mine got it, her (shielding and immunocompromised) boyfriend never did.

Samiad85 · 19/10/2020 05:45

The only person I know who has had it never passed it on to her immunosuppressed husband she lives in a one bedroom flat with.

A lot on this thread and in RL who say 'X had it but their DH/DW/DC didn't catch it' cannot know that unless they were all tested. Many people who think they don't have it are asymptomatic rather than not catching it. OP hopefully you dont show any symptoms or have very mild symptoms.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 19/10/2020 06:08

My mum had it and despite him being her carer, dad never caught it.

Camomila · 19/10/2020 06:17

Me and the DC were ill in March - DH had no symptoms.
DBro was ill (tested as HCP) in March, his flatmate had no symptoms.
A dr friend couple (so both had antibody tests), one had symptoms and antibodies, her girlfriend had no symptoms and no antibodies.

My brother and his 14-yr old daughter both tested positive 3 weeks ago. She was the first to get ill after catching it at school (where there were several cases in her year group). None of the rest of the family got it - his wife and two older teenage children - and neither did the lodger! They were all isolating of course but not keeping away from each other in the house.

Thanks everyone, very interesting to hear your info - I am prepared but hopeful x

Not necessarily.

I tested positive last week, though looking back some symptoms (not big 3) started several days before.

DH has been in the house in close contact throughout, both before and after I was in hospital. 18y DD came home last weekend (and no SIing here as can't go back to university until SI finishes) and so has been in close contact at times, both before and after.

Neither have shown any symptoms of having Covid as yet.

My colleague tested positive this week. Her DH had it in the summer and neither her or her two boys got it them. Her two boys don't appear to have it this time either.

PeaceAndHarmoneeee · 19/10/2020 20:22

I started with symptoms 5 days after DP started his. But we had been away for a child free 'romantic' weekend in a posh hotel the 2 days before he became ill 🤣 was always gonna get it!

gingerwhingerwife · 19/10/2020 21:05

I had it. Nobody in my family got it

Toothsil · 19/10/2020 22:37

My best friend's husband had it and she didn't get it, my brother in law and niece but not my sister in law, and also my Grandma's carer had it and my grandma - who is very frail - didn't get it. The carer does literally everything for her, from preparing her meals, to washing and dressing her, to helping her onto the commode.

Msmcc1212 · 19/10/2020 23:23

From the people I know who had it, it seems random in terms of who else in the family get it. One friend isolated himself in his room (they were lucky to have an en-suite) and no one else got it. But another friend didn’t and a couple of the kids got it but not the whole family.
