Personal trainer in my house during Tier 2 restrictions?

Hi everyone. I'm trying to find some guidance on this on the Internet and can't find anything explicit.

I'm due to start having a PT come to my house twice a week but we've just moved into Tier 2 and i can't work out if it's allowed or not. Obviously with the mixing of households indoors banned it would be not permitted but then i see reference to fitness settings being open as long as there is social distancing etc. Also if i have a cleaner they can still come and "tradespeople" are allowed in the house. Anyone know if the fact it's a person doing a job in my house means it's allowed?

I'm keen to keep to the PT but also want to follow the rules etc.

Thanks!

Can’t you enter someone’s house if it’s for work purposes?

Whatever9999 · 16/10/2020 07:28

Can you keep the 2m distance and will they wear a mask??

HaggisBurger · 16/10/2020 07:29

I guess someone cleaning or fixing your house can ONLY do that in your house. A PT could train you in the park, in their studio etc. But tbh I can’t see what the problem is really. I’d go ahead.

It's legal for someone to visit your house for work or education/training purposes.

Even if you could I wouldn't. If you're tier 2 then theres a decent amount if covid in your area. A PT going in and out of other peoples houses for a living. I'd see them as too high risk. It's not like a cleaner you're not sweating in the same room as them for an hour.

I'd keep the PT but move the sessions to the garden/park/online where the risk of transmission would be much lower/none

Park or garden does seem like a good compromise. It is important to keep fitness up during the pandemic though so I would do whatever you feel comfortable with.
For me this meant I no longer have cleaning sessions. However it's because I work out of the home in a school and have contact with many households. I decided I didn't want the additional risk of contact with a cleaner, for their sake too.

Thanks everyone. We can definitely keep a safe distance indoors but i do have an outdoor space and parks nearby so i agree that's a perfectly decent option!

Training outside is a great option. I've been training with a PT outside in all weathers for 4 years now. We tried in a gym, but both preferred being outside. OK so we don't get to use machines, but the amount of pain she can cause with a simple flight of stairs or park bench has to be felt to be believed.

Allowed as it's in a work capacity.

Sarahsah4r4 · 16/10/2020 11:44

Tricky 🤔 will it not be better to do it remotely?

I did my PT remotely during the strictest lockdown and it really isn't the same. Especially if you're new to the exercises, its so hard for the trainer to help you get form right. Its hard enough without them being able to touch you, but when they can't move about and see you from different angles then its even harder.
cologne4711 · 16/10/2020 14:59

During lockdown my PT only did remote training, but I think it is, and would have been, allowed because they are working and can't work from home. It's certainly allowed now.

I agree outside in a park or the garden is generally safer though.
