Can my cleaner still come? (Tier 2)

Total first world problem, but one I need to address one way or another. We've been told we'll be in a tier 2 area, having previously had no additional restrictions. I'm now wondering whether I'll need to cancel my cleaner or not. Anyone dare to hazard a guess?

My guess is no as its a service, but who knows? Perhaps in Tier 3 if it becomes that plumbers, electricians etc can only attend homes for essential work.

I'm in tier 2 and have been in local lockdown for yonks. Cleaner and anyone else providing a service can still come.

purpleme12 · 12/10/2020 21:56

Well they'll be allowed to come cos it's work

So it's your choice whether you WANT to cancel or not

Sophiesdog2020 · 12/10/2020 21:58

I think Yes, as it is work, people can still go to work in Tier 2 (and Tier 3)

I haven’t contemplated mine not coming, I usually go out, she avoids the room DH works in, so SD as much as possible.

That's certainly sounds promising. Am more than happy for her to continue but didn't want to put her in a tricky, or potentially illegal, position. It just dawned on me that it might go against the new restrictions - clear as mud that they are!

We are in tier 1, son’s tutor lives in tier 2. Can she still come?
I’m thinking yes because it counts as work?

purpleme12 · 12/10/2020 22:08

Work/schools/universities are exempt from these rules

hobbeschild · 16/10/2020 12:37

Officially:

www.gov.uk/guidance/local-covid-alert-level-very-high#meeting-with-family-and-friends

"Where a group includes someone covered by an exception (for example, someone who is working), they are not generally counted as part of the gatherings limit. This means, for example, a tradesperson can go into a household without breaching the limit, if they are there for work."

onemouseplace · 16/10/2020 12:54

We're Tier 2 and I'm assuming that our cleaner, tutor and piano teacher can all still come as it's a commercial not social relationship.

Youandmeareluckytobeus · 16/10/2020 13:21

No-one needs to hazard a guess as the rules are quite clear. You just have to bother to read them on the Govt website.

MissEWeatherwax · 16/10/2020 14:05

Yes, because that work can’t be done from home. Our council has a handy poster.

cologne4711 · 16/10/2020 14:56

Yes because she is working and your house is her workplace. She can't exactly work from home, can she?
