Govt stats age ranges

I am wondering how the ranges have been decided? Surely it would make sense if they were split:
0-3 years
4-10 years
11-17 years
18 - 21 years
So that the infections in each educational setting could be seen. Why the fudging?

At the press conference the age range used was 10-19 years but Chris Witty said this was weighted mostly in universities. Why are primary school children, secondary students and uni freshers all in the same category?

I think we may be surprised if we knew the number of asymptomatic cases there are in our secondary school teens. I wonder if the govt are going into any sample schools to do a mass testing to check this? I guess they just don't want to know!

Yes I am convinced there are high numbers of cases in the 18-24 group as universities are doing mass testing. I think it is a deliberate policy not to mass test school children as they don’t want to disrupt education.

Any boundary has problems, 18 year olds can be either in school or university.

Bristol and Southampton universities are both conducting studies of infections in schools, but won't be reporting back for some months.

I bet the results of those studies will be really interesting.
