Positive flat mate not isolating

Child at uni has tested positive along with their other flatmates so they are all in isolation in the flat. One of the positive flatmates went out on a pub crawl yesterday. Lied about what they were doing and switched all locations off on their phone. However they were pictured at the pub on another students snapchat. Child and another student are furious, other flatmates not bothered so child rang to ask for advice. I know what I think but child is worried it will make life very difficult if this person finds out they have been reported. So- what would you advise if this was your DS/DD? TIA.

At my uni (I'm a lecturer) this is a disciplinary offence (it will be at others too). She should report.

MJMG2015 · 12/10/2020 20:44

She should report.

Hopefully they'll get removed from the course & accommodation. Then she won't have to live with them. Get her to tell them about the person/people she brought back too.

Needs to be done, comfortable or not

Report definitely. It’s only a couple of weeks isolation not months in gaol. The ramifications of their jolly could be huge.

I’m bit usually one for interfering in adult dc’s lives but I would offer to do the dirty work and report them myself if they sent me links/screenshots.

boarboar · 12/10/2020 20:52

Definitely report. If she can get screenshots to you I'd report on her behalf.

I'd report to the university. I'd want to let the poor staff at the bars/ pubs know too that someone has selfishly put them at greater risk. People are going to work as they have little choice, even though they might have vulnerable family members etc. I really feel for them when individuals are deciding to spread it needlessly.

My DD is in isolation with her uni flat mates as one has tested positive. She is a real stickler for the rules and this would piss her off no end. I would want her to report x

Report. If this person is going out and about, knowing they’re infected, there’s little doubt that they will have infected others. Why the fuck should some poor bar staff or door person end up with Covid, because some little fuckers thinks their fun is more important that the worker’s health? Selfish little prick.

XiCi · 13/10/2020 07:59

I wonder how this selfish little prick would be acting in their home town. Would he be round at his nan and grandads infecting them and risking their lives? His mum? The barmaid at his local. Those people he has likely infected are going home to their own families. Who's to know they havent got someone at home they are shielding. I cant believe anyone wouldnt report and put a stop to this.
