New restrictions - can grandparents still provide childcare?

I live in a local lockdown area and we are expecting new restrictions later where no household mixing will be allowed. My parents currently provide childcare for a couple of days a week, does this mean this will no longer be allowed to happen?

I'm so confused with the guidelines constantly changing

Sadly I don't think we will know until the announcement comes.

I'm in a local lockdown area and 'informal childcare' is still ok. My MIL stays overnight when DH and I work away.

ncffm · 12/10/2020 09:33

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz I'm hoping they will directly address this issue though and not just say households can't mix but not provide any further clarity

I'm in merseyside and desperate to know this as well

3littlewords · 12/10/2020 09:35

Regardless of whether its allowed or not i suspect most will carry on with these arrangements to be able to continue to go to work

This is what's on my local council pages...

Who can come into your home
People can still come into your home or garden to:

attend a birth (at the mother’s request)
visit someone who is dying
provide paid or unpaid childcare
carry out paid work
carry out voluntary or charity work
care for (or assist) a vulnerable person
help with a house move
help in an emergency
help someone avoid injury or illness
fulfil a legal obligation

ReeseWitherfork · 12/10/2020 09:37

Love that they had to specify “at the mothers request”

WhatHaveIFound · 12/10/2020 09:37

Childcare section
You can still get help with childcare from:

people you live with
the child's other parent if you are separated
people in your support bubble
people in your childcare support bubble (if your child is 13 or under)
registered childcare providers including nannies
early years and childcare settings, including childminders and holiday childcare providers

Are your parents in your support bubble?

ncffm · 12/10/2020 18:50

Has anything else been said about this?

This is what's allowed in Tier 2. It mentions Childcare bubbles for under 14s. That's what your parents providing childcare for DC would be.

@WhatHaveIFound Where did you find that please? Trying to work out what happens with our building work/new kitchen being fitted...

WhatHaveIFound · 13/10/2020 13:52

Our local council posted it on a FB board. Do you know what tier you're in?

WhatHaveIFound · 13/10/2020 13:54

These are the other two tiers...
