Are we still infectious?

So my DH caught Covid and Test and protect gave him instructions to isolate for 10 days and the rest of us (me and 2 DC aged 2 and 4 months) for 2 weeks. Fine no problem.
My symptoms started on day 9 and test confirmed positive on day 10. So we were told back into isolation for 10 days from when my symptoms started. Which will be a week today (Monday).
My parents live far away but will be in the area for business then, and we were going to have a socially distanced garden visit on Monday but DC wouldn't have to distance. My dad is saying no as the DC could still have it and be contagious. Respect their decision but is this true? What is the point in isolation if this is the case? We were hoping to go back to church on Sunday so 6 days after the end of isolation but I'm worried everyone will be horrified thinking the DC could be contagious.

Your positive test at day 10 doesn't put everyone back into isolation for 14 days. It puts you into isolation for 10 days but the rest are released from isolation at the original 14 day point

@dementedpixie the woman that phoned from test and protect said everyone for another 10days and DH actually got a text from test and protect saying 14 days so clear as mud!!

@dementedpixie that's not true. OPs children start a 14 day isolation period again from the day she tested positive.

OP my dh came down w symptoms 10 days after me and ds1 10 days after him. Ds2 was locked down for 5 weeks and never showed a thing - but later had a COVID toe so obviously had been infected. In your position I'd avoid seeing parents right now.

Don't be like that woman in Korea who went to church and infected the congregation. I doubt God will drop you into the hellfire for missing another week or two of church.

No they don't as they are within the original 14 day isolation period when symptoms started. This is from .gov website:

Returning to your normal routine

If you remain well, you can return to your normal routine at the end of the 14-day period. You do not need to isolate for longer than 14 days, even if other household members develop symptoms during this period. However, the person with new symptoms should now self-isolate for 10 days. People in the household who remain well after 14 days are unlikely to be infectious.

Your 10 days will be over by next Monday but the kids 14 days won't be.

My doctors surgery refused to see me in person for much longer than when I was officially allowed out.

CovidFam · 12/10/2020 08:53

@dementedpixie I've also been looking at the official guidelines online which doesn't match up with what we were told on the phone even so don't know where we stand!
@Jeremyironseverything this seems crazy to me if you're allowed out which is apparently not a risk but the doctor deems it a risk for a while later than this?!

Well if we'd stuck to that ds1 would have been out and about and meeting people just when he was most infectious. Hmm

I think 14 days max. Guidance says ‘You do not need to isolate for longer than 14 days, even if other household members develop symptoms during this period. However, the person with new symptoms should now self-isolate for 10 days. People in the household who remain well after 14 days are unlikely to be infectious.’

Yes that pic is what I also understood to be the case until we were in the position.

I'm not sure if this is in PHE advice, but it's from the WHO and my work guidelines (NHS trust); you isolate until you are 48 hours post-fever over and about the standard 10 days.
