Cleaners, is everyone still allowing their cleaners to work?

As a cleaner, just wondering is everyone continuing to allow their cleaners round. Household mixing is not allowed here, and I'm just waiting on the texts to start arriving to say 'we can't allow you in the house'. Same as March.

Are you all happy to continue with yours?

yes, but we are in a low infection area.

Couple of precautions: don't stay in same room as her, and open lot's of windows while she's here.

I trust her to be sensible and we have no high risk people in the house.

cheeseychovolate · 11/10/2020 16:55

I'm a cleaner and hoping people still let me in to work. I'm happy to work if they're in a different room or out.

Reallybadidea · 11/10/2020 16:56

Well mine is self-isolating because her son has covid. But I will be having her back once she's done her 14 days.

Tootsey11 · 11/10/2020 16:59

Unfortunately a small number of mine are refusing to keep their distance or stay in another room. Mainly the elderly!

Yes. We're in a hot spot too.

Mylittlepony374 · 11/10/2020 17:04

My cleaner comes when we are not home. She opens all the windows as she works (always did, not a Covid thing) so I'm happy enough for her to keep coming.

cathyandclare · 11/10/2020 17:04

Yes, mine asked to come back (agency) quite early in lockdown. I make sure I'm not in the room though.

RaggieDolls · 11/10/2020 17:07

Yes. I am working at home so can't be out when she comes like I would have been in the past. We stay on opposite floors of the house. At the moment my DD is self isolating so I've asked her not to come until that is over. I've obviously paid her for the time though.

BewilderedDoughnut · 11/10/2020 17:08

I couldn’t survive without my housekeeper. As soon as we could have her back we did!!

charlieclown · 11/10/2020 17:12

We've just taken a new one on as our previous more flexible arrangement seems to have dissolved and we can't do it all any longer

Hyperfish101 · 11/10/2020 17:42

Yes. I go out when she’s here.

Realitea · 11/10/2020 19:40

I only clean empty houses (holiday homes) so I'm ok! I open all the windows and wear a mask while I'm there as I believe it can linger in the air for up to 16 hours after people have been there.

AnnaMagnani · 11/10/2020 19:49

Yes, the week's I didn't have my cleaner were a bloody nightmare. Got her back as soon as possible as soon as I thought my nosy neighbour would let me

RonaldMcDonald · 11/10/2020 19:52

Yes, throughout lockdown.
They needed the wages

Porcupineinwaiting · 11/10/2020 20:38

My inlaws who are very elderly and shielding have their cleaner round twice a week but they either stay in the kitchen or the living room with the door shut whilst she's there and she then doesn't clean that room. And they open all the windows whilst she's there.

MotheringShites · 11/10/2020 20:45

We had our cleaners back as soon as possible after the lockdown. They will be welcome here as long as they are happy.

trilbydoll · 11/10/2020 20:47

We've only just got our cleaners back, I'm not stopping them again. DH shuts himself in one room to work and everyone else goes out anyway, because otherwise it's impossible to stay out of the way (4 cleaners for a whirlwind 45 minutes!)

Hibbetyhob · 11/10/2020 20:47

Yes and I’ll keep them coming as long as possible. We paid them through lockdown last time as our income was unaffected and it felt like the right thing but I’m hoping not to do without them again!

paintmywholehousepink · 11/10/2020 20:50

Yes. Missed her soooo much. I'm so very happy she's back.

HarryDaylight · 11/10/2020 20:51

We're using a cleaner for public areas only.

LeahDownTheLane · 11/10/2020 20:55

Yes but I stay in the office anyway so nothings really changed.

puffinkoala · 11/10/2020 21:56

Household mixing doesn't apply to businesses, does it? Surely having a cleaner round is the same as having someone round to fit a new radiator or service a boiler or sort out a wasps' nest?
