Symptoms?

I have symptoms linked to covid but none of the main ones. Had a dodgy stomach for the past few days, diarrhoea once or twice a day so not terrible but enough to be annoying. Mild headache. Utter exhaustion and weakness. Hot flushes at times, chills at times but no raises temp.

I’m debating whether to get a test. I feel a bit guilty because I’ve already had two and the last one was only 2 weeks ago. I have asthma though So a bit worried too.

Wwyd?

Do you have the Zoe Covid app?

Heartbroken21 · 10/10/2020 19:33

No, just the NHS one. Is Zoe better?

Northernsoullover · 10/10/2020 19:36

Get a test. Don't feel guilty. People treat testing as a family day out just because their neighbour had it.

Mugofsteaminghottea · 10/10/2020 22:11

You could legitimately treat the chills as a temperature issue. It's noticeable to you. Combined with the other symptoms, you need to get a test

Mugofsteaminghottea · 10/10/2020 22:13

*chills and hot flushes, I meant

Heartbroken21 · 10/10/2020 22:52

I thought temperature has to be raised on checking, mines 36.7, went up to 37.0 but that’s normal.

Think I will book a test anyway, at least I can put it down to something else if negative.

Thanks all!

Op I think I had it back in march and it started with gastro symptoms.
Then extreme fatigue, very strong prickles in nose then loss of smell and taste.

It didn't develop further and I didn't feel bad at all after initial Fatigue.

Sb2012 · 10/10/2020 22:58

I had exactly the same symptoms, but also had an awful taste in my mouth, sore throat and headache. My DC had same but also a rash on the face. I didn’t test as didn’t have the main symptoms. Wish I had because after a week and a half of these symptoms I then developed a dry cough but then thought it was definitely too late as the dry cough developed at about day 11 and you are meant to test within 5 days of symptoms starting.
Wish I had tested now 🤦‍♀️

Augustbreeze · 10/10/2020 23:24

@Sb2012 you had an alteration in taste, which is one of the main symptoms....

(Doesn't mean it was definitely Covid though)

Heartbroken21 · 11/10/2020 07:10

Well I’ve started with a cough and breathlessness this morning, flushed cheeks so I’m about to book a test. Cough feels like their could be phlegm there but not sure, isn’t COVID cough supposed to be dry?

It’s a bit irritating when symptoms are mild because it makes you unsure. The only symptom that isn’t mild is the weakness/fatigue.

Are you a particularly anxious person? Asthma doesn’t seem to have a negative impact on covid. If I were you I would go on Nhs 111 online answer the relevant questions and very likely a nurse will call you back. They can talk you through the problems you’re experiencing and decide whether a covid test is appropriate. At the same time they could assess for other things eg bronchitis, chest infection. Remember still millions of other viruses out there. Hope you feel better soon.

Realitea · 11/10/2020 08:05

The Zoe app would most likely tell you to be tested as they’re doing research on different symptoms. I was sent for a test with similar symptoms to you and I’m now waiting for the results. It’s good to have both apps I’d say!

Heartbroken21 · 11/10/2020 08:29

@CKBJ yes I do suffer with anxiety, due to having M.E for 7 years before diagnosis. It was worrying constantly being ill and getting no answers. Asthma does put people in the risk category for covid. Also have hypothyroidism and overweight due to that so not the healthiest of people.

@Realitea I filled out the questionnaire on the Zoe app last night. It didn’t suggest anything.

It probably is a cold, I’m not prone to catching them usually so wasn’t my first thought. Test is booked.

'Its a bit irritating when symptoms are mild'
Hmm

GalOopNorth · 11/10/2020 09:48

Check your spam. My Zoe test invitations always go there!

cathyandclare · 11/10/2020 09:57

Zoe only tend to send people who have reported no symptoms before. Not new reporters.
If you've started with a cough, whether dry or productive, then that is a reason for a test.

Heartbroken21 · 11/10/2020 11:13

@Spied not sure what’s confusing about that. Just means it makes you unsure of what to do. It would be an obvious ‘get a test’ if symptoms were consistent, rather than intermittent. I did explain that but you chose to only pick out one part, is it any clearer for you now? Hmm

OP posts:
Heartbroken21 · 11/10/2020 11:15

@cathyandclare The cough is mostly dry but I can feel some mucus at the back of my throat. Test has been completed now. Appointments are good where I am, but I’m in a high rate area so that’s possibly why.

Heartbroken21 · 11/10/2020 11:19

Also have no idea where I could have caught it if results are positive. Both DC have been in isolation the last month because of positive tests in their classes. They tested negative last week. Is it possible they can pass it on without actually getting it themselves? Doesn’t seem feasible to me....

Sb2012 · 11/10/2020 13:43

[quote Augustbreeze]@Sb2012 you had an alteration in taste, which is one of the main symptoms....

It wasn’t a complete loss of taste and smell. It was altered taste. As I never had the fever I thought could be sinuses perhaps. The taste is still altered today weeks later!
I later developed a cough when I was ill, but was too late for a test by then. I do think the symptoms list for a test needs to change. I’m now pretty certain it must’ve been Covid especially since my child had a rash too. Good job we decided to self isolate ourselves even without a positive test not worth the risk

Rowgtfc72 · 11/10/2020 14:15

Taken dd for a test today. Shes hot and cold, headache and absolutely wiped out. Shes 13 and usually very in your face. Normally I'd let her just sleep it off but shes self isolating at the minute as 3 pupils and the teacher have tested positive and dh and I work opposite shifts in a busy factory.

Spied · 11/10/2020 14:21

No @Heartbroken21
I stand proud by myHmm.
(It's not confusing btw.Confused is confused)

Heartbroken21 · 11/10/2020 14:29

@Spied what are you insinuating then? Bit odd to leave Hmm without any sort of explanation.

OP posts:
Heartbroken21 · 11/10/2020 14:33

@Rowgtfc72 my DC were the same last week, but tested negative if that reassures you any. There seems to be a lot going around at the moment, making this whole thing more confusing/frustrating. And by frustrating (in case Spied tries to insinuate anything else about my words) I mean because we wouldn’t have to go through all the booking tests, waiting for results, isolators for other viruses/colds.

OP posts:
Rowgtfc72 · 11/10/2020 15:12

Thanks for that. Think it was more we work with 500 people between us that made us get dd tested. Shes silent and in her bed. Only silent when poorly which is rare. Covid is what it is. Its either a mild case or not if she tests positive. Nothing we can do.

Hope you get your result soon.
