What would Theresa May have done differently?

Settle an argument between me and my DH please....

We are both non-Tory voters but we were having a discussion this morning about Boris' handling of the COVID situation and both remarked how relieved Theresa May must be to have left when she did given that Brexit seemed like her biggest issue at the time.

DH doesn't believe she would have handled COVID any better whereas I feel she is more cautious and likely to have taken heed of advice earlier on than Boris did, and possibly worked with Nicola Sturgeon to deliver consistent advice across the board.

Please don't flame me! I'm not a politics expert but generally interested in people's thoughts on this...Smile

She would have found a way to blame it on immigrants

In fairness, doing that as soon as it was clear that northern Italy was in the shit would have been the one time it would actually have been a good idea.

She’d have probably been more swayed by Kranky McSturgeon so the U.K. would be doing whatever she wanted up in Scotland. And no that’s not a good thing as she’s no interest in balancing economy which is necessary as well

@PicsInRed

May would have been glad to have had one child herself.

I'm not aware of that - very sad if true - however I have no doubt she would have been sensible enough not to have had a couple unexpectedly during a pandemic, taken paternity leave and taken her eyes off matters when her attention was needed the most.

Has Boris had more than one child during his time as PM? I've heard rumours on here that he had an affair, (not with Carrie) but not that he'd had another child? (I know about the one with Carrie).

@Buckwheat80

She'd have dealt with it much better. A far more serious person with a cabinet who were actually functionally competent, even if you don't like their politics. Johnson is completely unsuited to this situation.
Are you seriously calling the likes of Chris Grayling "competent"?

The identity of the Prime Minister would have made little difference to most aspects of the pandemic. The PPE shortage for example was caused by decisions made in the early years of the Cameron administration. The decision to return patients to care homes is likely to have been made by management rather than politicians.
