God no.

My kids need to be in school.

Both mine are in sixth form. Ds1 is doing his uni application and has mocks soon. Younger one has just started A levels and needs to be in.

Year 11 have been sent home due to covid, I am keeping everything crossed sixth form don't go the same way.

Tonkerbea · 09/10/2020 20:20

I'm keeping mine in, but can see why people might pull their children out in an area with accelerating cases. It's tempting as if your child is a close contact with a positive case, they can't leave your house (or garden if you have one) for two weeks.

Whereas if you're not working/ very part time, it would sort of make sense to try and dodge that bullet and keep them off and have a fun couple of weeks over half term, rather than risk having to isolate.

Fairyfalls · 09/10/2020 20:20

No

Pinkfluffyunicornsdancing · 09/10/2020 20:21

Last week? There's still two of them left

bigchris · 09/10/2020 20:29

@Delatron could not agree more! Why didnt they do this , so annoying !

Dartsplayer · 09/10/2020 20:29

Not a chance. My kids have already had a week off between them poorly then 2 weeks self isolating after someone in their bubble tested positive so they have had 3 weeks out of 4 off already this term. Praying the rest of the term goes without any hitches

AbstractDot · 09/10/2020 21:20

We haven't had a case I'm school yet so I may feel differently if we get one however I feel so much more appreciative of the school system now and how important it is for children to be with peers than to do that, even though I did it back in March.

Mintjulia · 09/10/2020 21:28

No, We have had no diagnosed cases so far, fingers crossed, so we'll keep going until someone tells us to stop. Smile

IncidentsandAccidents · 09/10/2020 22:07

I'm very grateful for every day the dc get to be in school and definitely wouldn't withdraw them voluntarily. They're so happy to be with their friends and teachers, learning and playing together. I'm not sure we'll get much choice about half term though - I'm expecting a two week circuit breaker extending half term by a week.

Feellikedancingyeah · 09/10/2020 22:11

No way! 5 months of that was enough

doubleshotespresso · 09/10/2020 22:12

Seriously considering it yes

Willyoujustbequiet · 09/10/2020 22:15

Our schools will be shut anyway probably. Cases are through the roof.

PickAChew · 09/10/2020 22:17

Hell no.

Ds2 is severely autistic and has missed school so much. He's been so anxious about it being taken away again that he spends his weekends trying to quickly cycle through all the things he does at the weekend, hoping he can get back sooner. He's prone to tics and they were completely out of control a couple of weekends ago.

ColonSemiColon · 09/10/2020 22:17

Jesus no. Have you forgotten what lockdown was like?!

3littlewords · 09/10/2020 22:18

Absolutely not! Why would I? I'm grateful for every second of teaching they have at the moment for what reason would I stop that unnecessarily? Confused

PicsInRed · 09/10/2020 23:35

Nah. The more school the better.

Yes, things are going a bit crazy where I am too and it does feel like that.

Thanks for all the responses - I am just a bit nosey tbh. Although we haven’t gone back, and whilst I’m happy with choice, I’m hoping for LA/school support re vulnerable household member (so watching things closely).

My sister is thinking of not sending having sent all term because she’s hoping for her half term uk break to go ahead, another friend wants out because it’s starting to feel a bit 🤯 I just wondered what the overall picture was.

I do know mumsnet polls are not accurate but fancied a chat, then fell asleep for the evening 😂

COMPLETELY get wanting as much school as you can get and following your children’s happiness.

Crap times! Hope everyone has a good rest of term. Only one more week where we are.

God no!!! Why would you do that? They’ve missed enough this year.

KoalaRabbit · 10/10/2020 05:04

No keeping them in as long as possible. Only been 1 case in school so far though around 100 sent home for that.

We have had an e-mail from school today to say they may close to all but key workers and vulnerable students again with other children in part time for 2 weeks then off for 2 weeks so it sounds like its going to be very patchy schooling soon. One of mine is y10 so quite worried.

Hercwasonaroll · 10/10/2020 05:36

We've started coding kids who are off because of family members being vulnerable as unauthorised absence.

Even with rising rates, you can't isolate forever.

VashtaNerada · 10/10/2020 05:49

Teacher here. Please don’t do that Confused We’re having a hard enough time as it is catching up for lost time!

lovelemoncurd · 10/10/2020 06:41

I think my daughter caught coronavirus in Feb in Austria. Brought it home. We ended up with it. Quite poorly. Anyway there's no way I'm taking her out of school so she can sit around for two weeks! Her schooling is too important at 15. I think we will have a whole group of children disconnected from education by the end of this!

eurochick · 10/10/2020 06:46

No way. Education is important and my daughter is so happy being back with her friends.

FippertyGibbett · 10/10/2020 07:00

Absolutely not. My DS needs every day in school possible.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 10/10/2020 07:02

No way, not a thought that's even entered my head
