Can anyone on local lockdown now (we aren’t, but might be soon) explain if you are still allowed to travel out of the area? Eg. for walks or to visit places like theme parks or zoos or cities. My friends who are on lockdown are doing this but not sure if it’s officially allowed.

I understand you can’t mix households etc, but are you still allowed to travel and stay at the house of someone in your bubble? Or to travel as a household and go for a break in another part of the country?

TIA

@ShinyGreenElephant

Different Halloween activities each day - baking, Halloween bath (dye the water purple and throw spiders and eyeballs in - they love it!), fortune telling night with my eldest, Halloween movie night most nights with popcorn/snacks, build a spooky den to tell stories in, trick or treating at every room in the house / sweet treasure hunt, mini Halloween party just us with party games, duck apple etc, few different Halloween crafts planned, carving pumpkins (picked them last week as I was worried about not being allowed with further restrictions!), me and my oldest are making a scarecrow although that should be mostly done by half term, were going to do a zoom scavenger hunt with my nieces as well as the kids are usually joined at the hip and are really missing each other since these new rules. Looking for a good Halloweeny story to start reading them each night but struggling for something suitable for a 2yo and an 11yo! Oh and we have about 5 costumes each even though we have nowhere to go! Love dressing up
Great ideas!

Does anyone know any films suitable for younger kids , age 7, with a Halloween theme?

As of today, yes you can travel out of the area (as long as you don’t stay in someone else’s private house, or go away with another family) You can stay at your bubbles house

As of Monday- who knows! There are rumours of a travel ban for tier 3 but not confirmed

ceeveebee · 09/10/2020 14:42

Films- all the hotel Transylvania ones, Casper the friendly ghost, the little vampire, Addams family

Depends where you live. We’re in Wales so we’re not permitted to travel outside of our county except for essentials (work - where it can’t be done from home, medical appts, and essential carers duties). If you’re out of your county for those reasons you’re not supposed to stop off anywhere else (eg shopping).

Fortunately it’s been announced today that children can travel outside of the county for sports which will make a good difference to us.

Hopefully going to Greece, which it seems I can do even if I can’t visit my mum who lives 10 minutes away

Buckwheat80 · 09/10/2020 15:42

Probably sitting indoors, filling the aching spiritual void at the centre of my existence with pointless chatter from the idiot's lantern.

betrayedandwobbly · 09/10/2020 15:47

Depends on regulations.

We might visit my DMum, but if cases higher, then DC might go with their father to see his parents (different area, not as vulnerable)

If neither of those plans OK, then finding things to do from home - walks and nearby (outdoor, probably) days out. Plus lots of vegetating. Busy doing nothing

HildegardVonBingen · 09/10/2020 15:51

Baking, eating too much, board games. I was planning to visit a museum or two but if this tier 3 business comes in on Monday then maybe that's off the cards. Might go at the weekend instead.

Khajit · 09/10/2020 15:56

Feck all really.

I suppose we will probably go to the beach, forest walks etc in our waterproofs and just take flasks of hot choc to keep warm! Also plenty of tablet time and playing at home.

My oldest is exhausted after this term so I think she will be happy to relax at home anyway.

ShinyGreenElephant · 09/10/2020 16:11

@Letsgetgoing123 the new addams family is good for little ones, hotel transylvania and my fave is nightmare before christmas

IncidentsandAccidents · 09/10/2020 16:23

We're not in a lockdown area yet but expecting to be from next week.

Films, books, games, halloween crafts and baking (I love all the halloween ideas!). Lots of walks and visits to the playground. If it's allowed, we're hoping to have a couple of days out - a local zoo and national trust property.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 09/10/2020 16:39

I'm nights Monday to Thursday so will have to plan all fun stuff with them the weekend before and after.
I'm thinking pumpkin picking, a pumpkin walk at the local castle (if open) baking and relaxing.

Film suggestions for younger ones mentioned up thread.
Monster house and goosebumps.

KLF6 · 09/10/2020 16:45

Nothing.

Letsgetgoing123 · 09/10/2020 16:49

Thanks all for film ideas. Think we will swap trick or treating for games and “scary” film!

H1978 · 09/10/2020 18:50

Thinking of going away for a couple of nights with dcs, but holding off until the Monday ‘announcement’, whatever that will be. Could really do with a break from the usual routine. Dh has been working super hard for the past couple of months so we could really do with some time as a family. We have relatives who live very close so it’s hard to get time as ‘just us’.

Viv0321 · 10/10/2020 15:41

Thanks everyone
