Testing baby

So I had to pick up my just turned 1yo twins from nursery yesterday as my boy twin has a high temp. I'm not allowed to send them back until a clear test.
I booked him & me into a drive through testing centre, and went, but I'd be amazed if his test is conclusive, tbh - I'm not even sure mine will be! I didn't get any obvious gunk on the testing swab from my sons nose (he wouldn't let me in his mouth) as I couldn't get it v far in his teenie wee nostrils Has anyone else tested such young children and NOT had inconclusive results?!
I don't know what to do - I think he just has a sore throat (I have) and that's it - I doubt it's covid, but who knows.. and I've no idea how I could have got a better sample from him tbh as it's like ww3 just wiping his nose when he has a cold! 🙈
Anyone else been in similar position?

I've literally just tested my 2 year old. I managed to do a quick swipe of her throat (didn't expect to be able to ) and got it up each nose . I'm worried because she swiped it with her hand so she brushed her hand across the swab. The woman said it would probably be fine and I'd done my best.

I tested my 4 year old in summer and to be honest I think I made a much worse job of that. I caught her tongue with the swab which you're not supposed to do. Tbh I touched my OWN tongue as well when I did mine. We both got negatives.

I suppose we can do the best we can and hope. Irs SO hard with little ones.

My little one was prem so although older than your 1yo is much like a 1yo so I guess roughly the Same situation.

I tested my 11 month old & got a negative result a few weeks ago so there's hope! Smile I was worried about getting inconclusive results too with his tiny nose barely accommodating the swab.

@polkadotraindrops oh that's reassuring! I hope we are the same! I just feel it was so hard to get anything and I couldn't even see anything on the swab...🙈 so not sure I got much on there at all. He's not snotty or anything, just a temp. 🤞

I tested my 14 month old and it was fine.
