Who thinks Nicola will announce a circuit break lockdown tomorrow?

@Bellebelle
None of it makes sense!!! :)

neveradullmoment99 · 06/10/2020 22:31

Or it all is contradictory!

samosamimosa · 06/10/2020 22:33

@neveradullmoment99

Is it not 2 weeks in England? As far as I know, in Scotland its only ever been one.
Only at private schools afaik.
Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 06/10/2020 22:35

Maybe households could stop breathing whilst in the house. That is a brilliant idea as it would stop the virus spreading indoors.

Or maybe every second Tuesday, you could go to the gym but only whilst wearing red shorts.

Or you can meet no one ever, anywhere inside or out, except the local pub where you can all meet as long as you leave altogether at 2000?

manicinsomniac · 06/10/2020 22:36

Maybe including children in the rule of 6 and/or removing the distancing exemption for children?

Children are counted in the English restrictions and there seems to be evidence emerging that children do transmit the virus.

They absolutely transmit it.
Bellebelle · 06/10/2020 22:43

@manicinsomniac I think they would have ‘trailed’ that idea in the press conference today though, as in they would have hinted at or presented new evidence of the prevalence of children spreading the virus.

It does seem to be the way now by both the Scottish and UK governments to try and warm the public up to where they’re about to go with new measures before they announce them.

They wont do this in Scotland as it means they have to close schools. The same way that they cant get people to shield for the same reasons. There are teachers who are in shielding categories and children which would mean a huge issue for education.
neveradullmoment99 · 06/10/2020 22:48

It is interesting to note that shielding and the resumption of schools happened in tandem.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/10/2020 22:50

In order for the economy to function, schools need to be open.

2000 as the time or the year? Just so I know whether I can wear wider leg jeans again.

manicinsomniac · 06/10/2020 23:04

Good point, BelleBelle

Would it? We have schools open in England at the same time as having the rule of 6 and social distancing outside of schools. It's contradictory and being widely ignored but it's officially in place.

speakout · 07/10/2020 06:55

It's all as clear as mud.

DivGirl · 07/10/2020 07:31

I think we might follow Wales in getting rid of support bubbles and some areas (West of Scotland) having travel restrictions.

Ace1185 · 07/10/2020 07:37

Does anyone know what time she is making her announcement?

Fridgeandkitchen · 07/10/2020 07:38

No idea where things are going today.

We are Perth and Kinross and have 2 weeks. Currently half way through the first week.

I call it tattie howking

speakout · 07/10/2020 07:40

Announcement will be at 14.50pm

starfish4 · 07/10/2020 07:58

My DD is at uni in Scotland and tells me they can't book a table for a drink/meal. Could be they're genuinely fully booked as there are less tables, but half wonder whether pubs etc won't take bookings from students in case they're from different households. She basically can't go out with her four flat mates. Other than if uni library is closed, I can't see new restrictions making any difference to her, as they're not mixing in or out with other students as scared of being kicked off their course.

If its 2000 I might even fit mineGrin
ssd · 07/10/2020 08:19

@speakout

When I was a kid in the 60s there were vans parked outside the primary school. It would pick up older children and their mothers to take them to the fields to go " tattie howking" for a few shillings payment. The school was fine with this, there was the option to go to school or to go picking tatties, they would mark the register at the gate and see which kids were off in the vans.
This is si interesting. I remember a song about "the tattie howkers, sailing down the broomilaw" Now I know what it meant
AgentCooper · 07/10/2020 08:20

I’m praying they don’t get rid of support bubbles/grandparents doing informal childcare. I won’t be able to work otherwise. I just wish they’d come out and fucking tell us instead of this ridiculous guessing game. Never, ever voting for the SNP again.

BrazenlyDefying · 07/10/2020 08:21

She can do what she likes.

We are on the outskirts of Glasgow in a "red" area but when you delve deeper into their neighbourhood figures you'll see a very different picture.

We have a week in a cottage booked for next week and will still be going, whatever Ms Sturgeon says or doesn't say.

emmathedilemma · 07/10/2020 10:39

Something is being announced this afternoon:
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-54435870
She said yesterday that schools won't be closing other than for the planned half term holidays, it wouldn't be a lockdown like we had in March and that there wouldn't be a nationwide travel restriction, however that doesn't mean there won't be local travel restrictions
Reading this article it looks like the central belt might be worst hit by any additional restrictions. I reckon the hospitality industry might be on the receiving end of this one.
