DD2 Diarrhoea - do we need to self isolate?

DD2 came home from nursery and pooped in her knickers and then all over the floor. She's got diarrhoea. I can't find anything clear about whether we self isolate. Been on hold to 111 for 20 mins and line went. Will try again but anyone know for sure and can send a link to clear guidance? Thanks

No
She has to stay off until 48 hours after the last episode though

dementedpixie · 06/10/2020 18:06

If its not a new continuous cough, fever or loss of taste and smell then no need for isolation.

Give her fluids and she stays off until 48 hours after the last episode of diarrhoea

Mumdiva99 · 06/10/2020 18:06

No to self isolate. www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/coronavirus-in-children/
Yes to stay home until 48 hours after the last yukky poo.

How on earth can you not know what the three symptoms that mean self isolate are? It is everywhere you look.
There are clear instructiosn on the NHS website, the government website and all over the news on a daily basis.
I'm not sure why you can't find anything clear about whether to self isolate. It really couldn't be clearer.

OpheliasCrayon · 06/10/2020 20:54

No you don't need to isolate.
But you do need to keep her home for 48 after the LAST time she is either sick or diahrroea to make sure she isn't contagious

ShalomToYouJackie · 06/10/2020 20:56

Why would you need to self isolate because of diarrhoea?

And... stop hogging the bloody 111 line for flipping diarrhoea Hmm

AnyFucker · 06/10/2020 21:04

For God's sake, it's not difficult. Hmm

@ShalomToYouJackie

Why would you need to self isolate because of diarrhoea?
Because it's a common COVID symptom in children. A friend though her daughter had good poisoning - WRONG. Tested positive 24hrs later.
Subordinatethatclause · 06/10/2020 21:05

*food!!

Good poisoning 😅

Runkle · 06/10/2020 21:05

JHC...

Sunflowertall · 06/10/2020 21:44

@subordinatethatclause this is exactly why I was checking! Thanks

And to ask those so outraged at me asking, I'd much rather double check and do the right thing than guess and get it wrong. Why bother posting if my question was answered and you had nothing more to add. Must have just been to make me feel bad. Says more about you then it does me really.
