Test on its way but not feeling hopeful for a negative result as I've been in close contact with a confirmed case and am not feeling 100%.

My DH and I are 40/41 and we have a toddler. Need to be hopeful about how this may go! We are all very active (avid runners etc).

Also given most of the covid threads turn into debates, it would be nice to have one where we hear about mild cases and full recoveries (so please no stories of "I was great, coughed once, but my great aunt died within minutes"). Thanks Grin

Mine was very much just like any wintery bug. Felt poorly for a week or so, nothing of concern though and now back to myself

thisusernameismine · 07/10/2020 22:36

Just to update - positive result for DD so far. Which means whatever I had was/is it. DH worst day so far today but he's still okay 🙏🏼 I felt a bit off Sunday-Tuesday with my worst day being yesterday (but I was really okay, metallic taste was the most annoying thing) but woke up feeling fine enough to do a workout (at home obvs) this morning 🤦🏻‍♀️

My two year old DD had a raised temp Monday and Tuesday but easily managed and no change to her appetite.

Praying it's only going to get better from here.

Underlying health issues but completely asymptomatic, wouldn't have even know I was positive if it hadn't been for a routine swab.

happytobehere32 · 11/10/2020 00:03

@Ontopofthesunset, thank you so much for posting so many good outcomes. As someone who lost their sense of smell, regained it somewhat(about 80%) and just started experiencing parosmia last week, the resolution of your parosmia makes me feel very hopeful.
How long did your parosmia last if you don't mind my asking?

Ontopofthesunset · 11/10/2020 09:36

@happytobehere32 in total if I'm honest probably 3-4 months, but getting less and less frequent. So for the first few weeks I was often aware of a bad smell but then it happened more and more sporadically. I haven't noticed it since the beginning of August and I was ill 3rd week of March just before and into lockdown.

Chosennone · 11/10/2020 10:31

My in laws tested positive after contact with a positive case in a care home. Both mid 60s, various underlying health issues.one completely asymptomatic, the other a bit of a cough. Bith tested positive for antibodies months down the line.

Peppermintcandystripe · 11/10/2020 10:40

I (think) I had Covid back in March/April. I felt quite poorly for a couple of weeks (but not in danger health wise), then tired/slightly breathless for a few more weeks after that. I’m mid thirties, was slightly overweight at the time. Haven’t had any lingering effects - actually went on a health kick afterwards so feel much more energetic and fit than I used to.

Something that really helped was breathing exercises - you get into a bad pattern due to breathlessness which makes shortness of breath worse. I found this out myself but have since seen in official guidance to GPs. I really do think that was key to my recovery, as well as sufficient rest, healthy food, vitamin C, Manuka honey etc - and luck I guess.

happytobehere32 · 11/10/2020 22:07

@Ontopofthesunset, thanks for your prompt response. I'm glad all your symptoms resolved in time. Good to know there's light at the end of this tunnel too. Thanks again for sharing your stories!

whereisthejoy · 11/10/2020 22:29

@happytobehere32 I've lost my sense of smell too so am relieved to hear this. It's so shit isn't it :(

happytobehere32 · 11/10/2020 22:43

@whereisthejoy it really is! I know I'm never taking my sense of smell (or any of my senses for that matter) for granted again. Hang in there, we'll get through this!

TeeniefaeTroon · 11/10/2020 23:25

My 18 year old daughter is at uni and has it, she only got a test as she came into contact with someone who tested positive. 4 days in and she has no symptoms. Her boyfriend (who doesn't stay with her) has tested negative so far but is still isolating.

Fossie · 11/10/2020 23:32

Aged 53, pretty overweight, got Covid a month ago from 19 year old daughter. She had no symptoms but her friends had it so she got tested. I had a headache for 10 days, a little dizziness, felt very tired at times and weak (so went to bed), lost my taste one day for a few hours. Got better and that was it.

Fossie · 11/10/2020 23:34

Just to say I did take a lot of Vitamin D and Zinc.

Jenasaurus · 12/10/2020 00:53

My colleague had only gastric symptoms, painful stomach cramps and upset stomach for a week, no respiratory symptoms at all, he is overweight and asthmatic so was worried when he tested positive, but it cleared up after 5 days and now fine.

Mycatsaninja · 12/10/2020 01:05

I'm 60, not terribly fit but I have diabetes. I've recently been put on insulin, injections 4 times a day and still adjusting to get sugar levels stabablised. I'm terrified incase I get it. Someone please tell me I'm over reacting 😭

thisusernameismine · 13/10/2020 17:35

@Ontopofthesunset - did any of you lose sense of smell and has that come back?

Yep, it came back. Took about six weeks (very roughly, I wasn't paying much attention tbh). It happened incrementally for me.

whereisthejoy · 13/10/2020 21:44

@letsmakethishappen is your sense of smell back?

letsmakethishappen · 13/10/2020 21:48

Yes

MiraWard77 · 14/10/2020 07:06

I found this thread really helpful. Thanks all for sharing.

I'm on day 7 post exposure and today is day 4 of my isolation. Lots of time to worry about the What-it's.

MiraWard77 · 14/10/2020 07:07

Oh, quick question for all the "positive but asymptomatic" people - how did you get a test? I don't think I can get a test unless I have symptoms. Did you just lie?

Jrobhatch29 · 14/10/2020 07:27

I know someone who lied and got her and her daughter a test because there had been a positive case in her daughters class. Her little girls came back negative but hers was actually positive! They had no symptoms at time but she went on to get bad headaches. I'm not condoning lying but they probably wouldn't have known otherwise
