Should I get a test?

I can't believe I'm starting one of these threads now as I've seen others and always felt it was black and white but now I'm in this boat I feel like it really isn't. I've had a headache all evening, a really painful one. But also, I have a really tight chest. I don't really have any of the main symptoms, but I coughed about 4 times between yesterday afternoon and this eve but it isn't a continuous cough, just a couple of coughs and then nothing for hours.
I feel exhausted though. I don't know if the coughs were enough for a test but I've no sign of a cold?! I don't want to waste a test but I am worried that I have it and don't know.
My heart was beating so fast this afternoon but is that just my anxiety over the virus!? (I feel like I've been pretty chilled after the initial panic in March!)

Scroll down to Commercial Terms.

ParlezVousWronglais · 03/10/2020 10:19

That's not the same thing - that's a different organisation with the same name

It is the same organisation and they link to it at the bottom of their Covid site.

I think it was the Zoe research that got loss of taste and smell added to the official list of symptoms. They are surveying and testing thousands of people around the UK and sharing their results with governments and the NHS.

Lots of research organisations are commercial operations. They are partnered with a university.

I would imagine that all the organisations producing vaccines are commercial operations too, even the one partnered with Oxford University.

Yes the Zoe / KCL research is 'genuine' and doing important work.

However their findings on headaches/fatigue are that though they are the most common early symptoms of covid, only 1% of people reporting those symptoms test positive for covid.

In other words, although you are likely to have headaches/fatigue with covid, if you have headaches/fatigue it is much more likely to be completely unrelated to covid, so it is not a reliable indicator and not symptoms you should self-isolate or test for.

Glad you're feeling better, OP.
My sinuses flare up when there is a cold wind.
Cold wind today.

Yetiyoga · 03/10/2020 11:21

I do fill out the zoe app but keep forgetting!

Thanks @yeOldeTrout I am the same! I honestly think it is the start of a mild cold and a mixture of that and my anxiety! I have none of the main symptoms but I will obviously keep a close eye. I work with kids (non social distancing way) so am always picking up germs but finding it harder this year with knowing what is normal or what is covid.
If I cough today I will obviously book a test but as it stands I feel ok!
