One day in...fever for eldest (ambulance and a visit to the covid ward). Rest of the week off and return the following weds.

Three days in....then 2 weeks off. Awful coughs (and cold). Couldn't get a covid test.

I can't even imagine what silence sounds like. Anyone care to pitch in for a wine or a moan? Just need my two preschoolers to be back at school!

It's somehow so much worse having them home when they are meant to be at school/ nursery. I have booked tomorrow off work just to make sure I get at least one day on my own before we begin the next cycle of symptoms / isolate/ test / wait.... I hope you get a bit of a break soon!

That sounds rough...... hope you get a break soon. Mine have been in and out with tests and isolating but we've managed more days than you x

We managed 7 days before the 5yo got a cough. Almighty fuck up with the test (took ages to get a home one, came on last day we could do it, courier arranged by 119 never came!) meant we had 14 days off. Only just back today!!!

Took my DD for a test today for the first time. Are we going to have to test them every time they have a cough now? I just don't see how it's sustainable long term. Clearly other people are sending their kids in ill?

clearly other people are sending their kids in ill?

Virus symptoms show different in different people so when a common cold in some presents as a snotty nose or sneezes (which is perfectly fine to send in school with ) in others it presents in a temperature and cough. We know with covid some people have all /some/no symptoms so we can't say that parents are sending their children in school knowingly ill. You can't keep a child home every time they sneeze and also some people can transmit any virus, not just covid, asymptomatically.

My kids both get coughs with every single cold going and one is particularly prone to fevers. They go back Wednesday so not long to go now!
