I've name changed as this is outing
I work for a SEN school with a residential children's care home on site.
I was Informed today that a child from the care home has been showing covid symptoms since last week but the care staff had been keeping it quiet. The other children from the home came to school this morning, saying they were unsure why they were there as they were aware of the house hold isolation rules, they asked the house manager about this but she convinced them that they should go to school regardless.
Our headteacher received conflicting information from the care home manager and they spent all day umming and ahhing over things until someone contacted the company's health and safety officers who have now shut us down pending a negative COVID result from the child and a few members of the care team who have also developed symptoms.
I'm receiving angry emails from parents of very vulnerable children who have potentially been exposed to covid for 4 days. The staff team are upset about the whole thing, some who were the original shielding group.
A few colleagues have emailed a complaint to the regional manager. Is this a risk assessment issue or just not bothering to following gov guidance?
