Well if the police are told not to download it, I won’t be using it.

NHS worker here, we were initially told not to download it. Now have been told we can download it but should turn off the contact tracing option whilst at / near work. I don’t have the app so not sure how this works

But how does that work for your outpatient and inpatients? Should they turn off the app too?

the real (and totally justified) reason is that they (and we) simply cannot afford to have loads of police officers off work at the same time

So it's ok to have possibly infectious police officers roaming about.

I am ok with them ignoring the alerts personally, but just saying that's how these threads go.

Police have to self isolate if they have been in contact with a possibly infectious person, the same as everyone else. They do have an in force test and trace system, not because they don't want to isolate, but because it could cause issues if they passed the details on of everyone they've been in contact with.
