To test or not to test?

So, I've had a cold for the last couple of weeks, bit of a cough, but I wouldn't say 'persistent'.

Felt fine over the weekend and then today have felt really nauseous and have a headache and have pretty much slept all day.

I have managed to get a test for tomorrow, but wondering if that's overkill and I've just got a crappy bug.

Thoughts? WWYD?

You don't have the right symptoms. They have to draw a line somewhere & you are on the 'No Test' side of the line.

Of for gods sake I had a headache yesterday and I just slept it off. Stop getting tested unless you are really ill, you're just contributing to rising cases which gives the govt more ammo to impose nonsensical restrictions.

@JKRowlingIsMyQueen I didn't mean to annoy anyone!!! I teach at a school so am understandably mindful of the 240 families who would be affected if I went to work with coronavirus.

I have seen that sometime nausea can be a symptom, so just wanted some other thoughts on it.

You obviously put in your symptoms and were offered a test, so go along and get tested, no point in wondering now. There are so many different symptoms going around, so who knows, but hopefully it will be negative.

You are doing the right thing. You know it. Just because others have a different view of right, doesn't mean their version of right is right. Hope you get the all clear. Flowers

If OP gets a positive test result then yes it will contribute to increased cases because it's a positive case.

I don't think a test is required here though as the symptoms don't meet the testing criteria.

Cookerhood · 28/09/2020 19:02

How did you manage to get a test? Did you say you had one of the 3 symptoms?

silver1977 · 28/09/2020 19:04

As a teacher I think you've done the right thing OP. Hope you feel betterFlowers

My dd had a test last week as she was full of cold, but she had a cough and a temperature too. Thankfully it was negative. I do wonder if I done the test correctly on her as it was so tricky to swab in the right place for any length of time Confused I presume it would have come back as not sufficient or something rather than negative though?

I have now developed the same symptoms, is it right to presume I am negative too and have the same bug as her? I don't want to waste a test when I don't feel it is very accurate getting people to test themselves anyway

I think you’re doing the right thing.
You have a new cough, which you’ve had for a few weeks. That’s a symptom.
I was tested today. I’m confident it’s just a cold but I’ve lost taste and have a cough. I know I’ve done the right thing.
