Workplace with no Covid precautions

I have name changed for this as it’s outing. How do I go about reporting a business for not being Covid safe yet forcing employees to work in the office rather than WFH? We all did WFH for the lockdown but communication between some people wasn’t great so that stopped as soon as it could. Which would be fine if they were taking precautions.

Examples... we have taken on more people and put them all in one small office. We have screens between but nothing to the side, there is probably 1.5 metres between desks.

Cleaning is only twice a week. Everyone is leaving at same time. People still using kitchen and making drinks for other people. No ventilation. No rota. Still having face to face meetings with external people. People not staying 2 metres apart. People still clocking in and out on a fingerprint machine. They have a few sanitiser machines scattered around.

It goes on really. So how do I go about dealing with this? It’s not a huge company, but in terms of profit it is - so it’s not an issue of finance and being unable to fund all of this. Neither of the directors have even read the guidelines.

Is there a company who you report breaches to? They at least need some advice and guidance?

I would report it to the council, sounds really stressful op. Well done for wanting to do something about it!

You could report it to the Health and Safety Executive.

www.hse.gov.uk/contact/index.htm

There is also guidance about what an employer needs to do on their website.

I have dealings with HSE for other hazards and have seen recent inspection reports that cover inspections for Covid safety so it is something that they are dealing with.

Also, a major employer in my city made the news because a group of employees were observed standing close together round a desk having a conversation during a HSE inspection.

You can report this through the Local authority and HSE (you can do this apparently through their website).
