Why are baby classes allowed now, but not at the start?

I registered me and DD 6 months, to start a baby sensory class when they opened at the start of September.

There’s 8 of us In the class and then the class leader.
We’re all 2m apart. Have to wear a mask to get to our mats and then can remove them.

I was really surprised at the first class when she said it had been approved for us to sing and although the class isn’t spent signing, we did sing several times (class is 45 minutes)

I’ve been for two weeks but we missed this week as DH had the day off so we went to the zoo for the day.

Anyway, I’m not sure wether to go back next week.
I can’t quite grasp why baby classes are allowed now but had to be stopped back in March. I mean it’s still the same virus isn’t it.
So why can they go ahead now?

Because parents with small children are goes fucking crazy without activities to do and demand is there for these activities to resume.

If you feel unsafe going then don't go 🤷🏼‍♀️

We know about the virus now and how its very rare in babies. Even though cases are high we are no way near the levels in April. Its a balancing act, mums going stir crazy at home developing pnd or a tiny risk of catching covid when 2m apart.

For the same reason that restaurants, beauty salons etc have reopened. The industry would simply go bust otherwise.

Everything was stopped back in March, not just baby classes.

Things that are open now have to be risk-assessed and covid-secure. There will be guidelines that those classes are working with.

Whether you think the risk assessment is appropriate or not is up to you.

Now classes are so different to they were in March. A typical baby class back then would have had around 30 children all with parents sitting shoulder to shoulder. No masks would have been worn. Equipment would have been shared and reused in multiple classes during the day. People wouldn't have washed their hands or sanitised before and during the lesson. Also I think people are much less likely to turn up to a class feeling unwell now.
So many things are different now which is making them less risky than previously were! That doesn't mean to say they are safe, it just means people need to work or businesses will collapse!
