Is anyone else avoiding playgroups?

The few that are on anyway, not for fear of Covid but incase DC get sick and then you can't send them to nursery/childminder?

I had great plans for enrolling DD 22mo in a few groups this year but now I think about all the times we went to something and she got sick and then got a fever or cough, especially as cv tests aren’t always easy to get, she’s already missed a week because it took ages to get a test and results. It's bad enough she gets sick at nursery but worse to pay for nursery then not be able to use it because I've paid to take her somewhere else that made her sick.

I'm furloughed/redundant on notice atm so not currently working but need to find new work ASAP and also really like a break but also miss actually seeing and talking to people other than DP

there aren't any running round here

Littlebelina · 26/09/2020 15:39

Chance would be a fine thing! The only one running gets booked up....

Megan2018 · 26/09/2020 15:41

There’s nothing running here at all. But I wouldn’t go now if it was (would’ve in Summer) but it’s too risky now.

Emelene · 26/09/2020 15:46

Nothing running here either. I'm taking my 22 month old to toddler dance but the adults wear masks, temp checks and 2m distance between everyone, dancing on a coloured spot.

It sounds grim but my toddler loves it so much! She doesn't know any different. 🤷‍♀️

Yes I am but not out of fear of the virus it's more that I can't be bothered with being shouted at for sitting too close to someone else, going the wrong way round the one way system or breaking some other rule. Weather is still OK for trips outside at the minute so I'll avoid playgroups and soft play until I'm desperate.

Wherearefoxssocks · 26/09/2020 15:53

I wish! The only groups around here are similar to what pp has described - 2m apart, adults in masks with your own basket of "props". Strictly no letting the children roam. DS is the only one in the class who can crawl and I've found it quite stressful trying to keep him in one place!

There aren't as many things on but there's definitely a fair bit but not sure if i could even get a place at halve of it.

Baby ballet is back on which as @Emelene said is probably spaced out so technically fine (my own adult ballet classes used to be up to 60 ish people and now they can only take 15 so I definitely won't get a place regularly)

There's a stay and play on the weekends in a nursery which as I knew it was a chaotic free for all and when I asked people how it was they said their kids got really sick Sad they have a ticket system now but up to 40 kids can go, plus their adults, and it's not thaaaat big

There's a couple indoor gym type things but to me that feels a lot like icky soft play

And a bunch of music/singing classes that I wouldn't go to anyway Blush

SE London btw
