Hi. Had a sore throat since wednesday evening. I have now developed a cold and cough (cough yesterday) my temp is 37.3
I work with children so I have probably caught it from them. Should I go somewhere to get tested?

If you have one of the 3 main symptoms i.e a cough - which you do then yes and self isolate.

Okaro · 26/09/2020 12:32

What kind of cough?

AliciaWhiskers · 26/09/2020 12:46

Yes, you have a cough which is one of the symptoms, so you need to test

StellaGib · 26/09/2020 12:49

Yes, you have a cough so should get a test.

For a cough to be a coronavirus symptom it needs to be new and persistent, so over an hour of coughing or 3 instances of a coughing spell in 24 hours. Temperature is classed as over 37.8. Seems like you might be heading that way, but see how you go?

How is this still a question?

Every single piece of information defines the symptoms, it isn't any and all coughs. This is exactly why the system broke, use the NHS official instructions to decide.

There is a tendency on here for posters to say you need a test if you so much as clear your throat.

Thanks. Cough started yesterday, more like a phlegm cough, been coughing all day. It could just been a cough and cold.....

If you’ve been coughing all day, that fits the criteria of a new continuous cough (coughing a lot for more than an hour, or three episodes of coughing in 24 hours).
