Yes although it depends where. Gave DH a choice of city or quiet seaside break for his birthday, next week, and he chose the latter. I was a bit relieved.

Legoandloldolls · 26/09/2020 11:37

Yes we a weekend booked in a Haven self catering caravan for a weekend in November. I doubt anything on site will be open. But it's a tiny thing to look forward to.

If it's cheap enough to loose why not? We could be in harder lockdown over winter and then it becomes impossible so do things why you can. Haven was good with refunds and safety last time.

We are on an overnight stay at Thorpe park this weekend, I will do what I m allowed for as long as we are able to. Everyone is temperature checked here we wear masks, distance as much as possible and sanitise regularly. My children have missed out on a lot this year, I am under no illusions we are probably only a couple of weeks away from theme parks etc closing so we are making the most of it. If they don’t we have a ten day theme park break booked over half term I won’t cancel unless we aren’t allowed to go or one of us is ill.

Torcross - Slapton, loads of room.

flissity · 26/09/2020 11:47

We’re hopefully going to Yorkshire in half term.

Yesterday had a long chat with the owner of holiday cottage. She is still very happy for us to go. It’s in a tiny village:middle no where. We will be doing walking and outdoor stuff. Or stay in and play games etc.

Yes!

In fact we have a cottage booked for Monday-Friday next week. It’s a self catering cottage. We will anti bac all the kitchen and clean the bathrooms quick when we arrive and Then holiday like normal. We plan to just drive round the local areas, going for walks. Due to having young dc we don’t plan to eat out for dinner but may eat out for lunch once or twice.

A break away from home for a change of view is much needed at the moment. I wouldn’t risk going abroad but I am going to holiday in my own country, travelling in my own car, staying in self catering accommodation.

tenlittlecygnets · 26/09/2020 11:53

Ya, somewhere with low levels.

TheGreatWave · 26/09/2020 11:56

If I was going today then yes I would, I think I would be reluctant to book anything in advance though.

Heyahun · 26/09/2020 12:14

Been on one in July and going on one tomorrow ! Don’t get why you wouldn’t? I can still go out for nice walks, nice meals and have a lovely hotel to come back to And relax in the evening !?

No, not worth the hassle.

Mirrorxx · 26/09/2020 14:05

We’ve got a week in Scotland booked in October and I’m hoping we are still allowed to go. It’s self catering and we weren’t planning to see any other people whilst we were there

MsAwesomeDragon · 26/09/2020 14:10

My mum and dad are away at the minute. They live in a local lockdown area, and the holiday house they've gone to is in the same area. It's a very quiet and remote village, where they won't see many people but they can go for secluded walks and sit by the sea. It suits them, and is doing them a lot of good, as they've been shielding so have barely left their own house since March. They live on a busy street in a busy town, so being on holiday in a quiet village where they can actually get out without worrying about people getting too close is just what they needed.

I would go on a UK holiday in a caravan or holiday let, but wouldn't go to a hotel or b&b. The difference being how many people I'd be in contact with.

IncidentsandAccidents · 26/09/2020 14:16

Yes but I wouldn't travel from or to a lockdown area. Would also make sure we could get a refund or change the date if we needed to self-isolate.

ChodeOfChodeBall · 26/09/2020 14:18

Yes, I would. I recently went on one, and it was brilliant.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 26/09/2020 15:56

Yes, I'm just back from 3 nights away in West Sussex - had a lovely time, the cobwebs have well and truly been blown away.

Viv0321 · 27/09/2020 10:08

Majority is a yes then.

I'm really, really hoping I'll be able to go away in two weeks time. Me and three friends have a cottage booked on the south coast. We're in an area which has low cases so no local lockdown, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the rules around households mixing won't change.

Fyzz · 27/09/2020 11:39

I am booked into a seaside cottage next week. I wil clean everything down when we arrive. I'll take food and we will have takeaways/ deliveries in the evening. Just planning lots of walks and exploring the coast nearby.
It's an area with similar levels of infection to where I live, fairly low but I am ecv and DH is over 70 so we will be careful.
When I booked it I was prepared to cancel and lose the money if we judge it's not safe to go or are locked down.

NaughtipussMaximus · 27/09/2020 11:41

Off to the West Country in 5 days! Can’t wait, even though it’s going to rain. I’m going from a county with low cases to another county with low cases. We’re staying in a self catering cottage 100 meters from the beach.
