Are you doing anything to your house to make it ready for a second lockdown?

If we go into lockdown again, I’m not doing it without a tumble drier. I can just about cope with clothes on a clothes horse and the radiators in the winter in normal circumstances, but I can’t face it if I’m home all the time.

I’d also like to do a big declutter so it’s easier to keep everything tidy while everyone’s home.

And if I was really splashing out, I’d love to get a deep clean done so everything at least starts off really clean.

Anyone thinking along similar lines? Anything else I could be doing?

@Ponoka7 Actually, I could do with a heated airer for winter! Good shout, hopefully I'll get some Lakeland vouchers in the post soon!

Why do so many people have wood stores?

quince2figs · 26/09/2020 10:54

Because we have wood burners/ wood-fired outside ovens?
I have ordered a log splitter set to attack the huge garden woodpile. Exercise and fuel!

Open fires or wood burners?

I think I'm common Grin

We already panic bought a second TV while everyone else was scrapping over bogrolls and pasta. Grin

I don't think there will be full, prolonged lockdowns again. The economy can't afford it. No economy, no NHS/ no education etc.

I had a baby during the last lock-down so I'm going to duck-tape my knees together.

Not so much preparation but one thing that really helped us during the last lockdown was having online banking set up between a couple of local friends and myself.
My husband and I had to isolate as we both had the virus so couldn't get to the shops or get an online delivery, our lovely friends went and got what we needed from the shops and left it in a box at the bottom of the drive. We could just pay them via online banking, it worked really well.
Returned the favour when one of our friends also had to isolate due to symptoms.

I also got most of my house redecorated in July/August as I was sick of looking at the same old walls and furniture!

VickySunshine lol that’s hilarious Grin

Not really in prep for “lockdown” because I think the same again is unlikely, but in prep for a lot less going out and more WFH: DH and I have revamped the spare room so it’s less a guest room with his desk crammed in, and more of a joint office. We have nice spacious desks now and aren’t fighting over it!

Still a work in progress, though- absolutely LOADS of old clothes belonging to the DC have been shoved to one side and not dealt with while charity shops etc were closed. Sorting out all these is high on my to-do list.

Also I really want to defrost the freezers and use up the odd things which don’t easily make practical meals. I’d intended to do this before the first lockdown but it didn’t happen, so there’s some pretty old stuff in there now which I need to tackle!
