Are people who are vulnerable to CV also vulnerable to other viruses and flu?

Would the same people who were shielding initially for CV also be likely to be at risk with other viruses such as flu? Or is there something about CV that makes these people more susceptible?

In my case, yes. I am clinically vulnerable (CV) rather than extremely CV (ECV) - I narrowly missed the shielding criteria.

I have difficult to control asthma. Pretty much every cold I get goes to my chest. Last year I had a week off sick with a flu like illness in March and a week off sick with a chest infection which saw me go to A&E with a nasty asthma exacerbation in November. Chest infection took two rounds of steroids to shift and I needed to take a course of prednisolone steroids.

They don't call prednisolone the 'Devil's tic tacs' for nothing, it was awful. I felt so unwell that I am determined to do everything in my power to avoid Covid.
