I found this article interesting as I was actually pondering yesterday whether any investigation is being done into the possibility of a genetic component influencing who gets the virus and how badly.
I am a little wary of the use of the word "defect" rather than variance or anomaly as "defect" seems a little loaded and in these inflammatory times the mere suggestion that people more susceptible to the virus may be inherently "to blame" through no fault of their own but through their physiology makes me wince a bit and could be manipulated by the unscrupulous, whatever their motives.
So I thought I would just ask for a few points of view and hopefully some reassurance that this is simply the dry language of genetic academia.
I do think this field of research is vitally important to further better treatments and outcomes and hopefully eventually to a targeted vaccine.
