Hmm. What do you think this scenario requires, protective measures wise

Scotland based.

2 single people.

Mum 80s and daughter 50s.

Live separately.

But one extended household.

Old lady has been told today by test and protect to self isolate as a week (yesterday) 😳, she was at an apt and unknowingly was exposed to Covid.

They have told the old lady to self isolate for 7 more days (to make it 14 🧐)

question is - should her daughter be self isolating also? They don't live together but have mixed in the last week.

The mum forgot to ask!

Not unless the Mom gets symptoms but given the Mom is isolating, contact with daughter should be kept to essential only really. Even if they loved together they'd say the Mom needs to try and keep to herself.

Ps. They obviously won't see each other for the next week.

No, not unless your mum develops symptoms. (This would be the case even if you lived together, oddly enough!)

No, even if they lived in the same house only the person actually in contact needs to self isolate

For example my friend's daughter has been told to self isolate because another child in her class at primary school has tested positive. Only the daughter has to self isolate - both parents and the brother can still go to work and school, unless the daughter develops symptoms then they isolate till her test is back if negative or 14 days from her symptoms if positive
