Anyone struggling to get their teens into school

DS 15 is starting to refuse to go to school saying he doesn’t want to catch Covid. There has been a positive case in his year group / bubble, but most recent guidance is not for the whole bubble to isolate- only close contacts of the positive case.
I’m not sure how to deal with this. I’ve told him it’s a really important year for him and to wear his mask where possible and socially distance where possible. He’s really stubborn and digging his heels in as he doesn’t feel it’s safe. I can’t home Ed year 11 - it’s too hard! What can I do?

Just to add, I have spoken to his head of year, who whilst supportive and kind, the bottom line is he needs to go in - which I agree with

Same problem here.
Mine is worried about bringing it home to his grandparents. He is wearing a mask but not many others are, and corridors are just as packed as usual apparently. He can see the difference between the news reports (carefully picked shots of half empty classrooms) and the reality.

We would manage home ed between us (also year 11) but my concern with this would be that if exams are cancelled again the home ed students would be potentially in the same position as last year, with no grades.
Sorry none of that was very helpful but you're not the only one.

Same here! My ds with asd went in for 2 weeks and has taken the last 3 days off. Despite my encouragement, he has flatly refused to go in. The head of year (8) has been very understanding and said there are few of them off. My son has noticed that out of 30 children in the class, 8 were not in school. To make matters worse, the school are going over a lot of the year 7 work again, and the ones who did it the first time during lockdown were complaining. My ds of course did very little in Yr 7, so he's found it rather amusing. He has done some homework today, to be fair, but I don't know how long this is going to go on...... 😱
