Holiday in Scotland?

Hi, does anyone know how the new restrictions in Scotland affect holidays? We were planning on going to a holiday lodge in the highlands with the in-laws this weekend. I know two households can’t mix in people’s homes, but they can in a restaurant or cafe, but I can’t find anything about how it affects holiday accommodation. Thanks.

I think technically it isn’t now allowed, but you should contact holiday company for clarification.

Households cannot mix indoors, I dont think holiday accomodation will be any different, at least it shouldn't be or we will have everyone coming up here mixing and disregarding the rules, while we aren't allowed to visit our families in their/our homes.

Contact your holiday provider for clarification. Hope you manage to get a refund, or enjoy your holiday alone.

You're ok if it's a holiday property, you just can't meet in private households. Absolute madness but so long as you're spending money it seems you can't catch Covid. www.assc.co.uk/new-coronavirus-restrictions-in-scotland-what-you-need-to-know/?fbclid=IwAR3SxT35EA17CTFHF8wdBqO2bDTLFXNq3JDpv2EY572Cpx251E5o891cuJk

I have a holiday cottage booked to visit my sister In Aberdeen, cottage still going ahead. Will see my sister outside or in a restaurant/pub 🙄

Professor Leitch has just confirmed on the news that in Scotland, only one household in self catering accommodation, no mixing.

SBTLove · 23/09/2020 18:51

I think we need to consider if travel to other areas is necessary.

goodname · 23/09/2020 18:53

It was confirmed this morning that sadly only one household in holiday houses in Scotland. Ruined my plans 😕

Squintybumcheek · 23/09/2020 18:56

Yeah unfortunately only one household. We are in a similar position and have decided to go minus the in-laws.

The rules in Scotland are the illogical crap one has come to expect from the SNP.
I cannot invite my daughter safely for lunch in my own home - but I can have lunch with her in a restaurant full of potentially infected strangers. How stupid is that?

Littlepoppet1 · 23/09/2020 18:57

I am in Scotland with my in laws in a holiday cottage at the moment but we arrived last Saturday before restrictions were announced and we leave this Saturday. Technically should be 1 household only though, no mixing.

Confusion as usual as to what we can and cant do. No wonder most people have given up trying to comply with so many inconsistencies

The evidence shows that community spread is overwhelmingly because of interaction in private homes, not restaurants or other public places where social distancing and hygiene measures can be controlled somewhat by the government, so how exactly is it 'stupid' to act in a targeted manner to address a specific problem, especially when this exact approach has shown to be working in Glasgow and the West?

And this also seems to indicate it doesn’t apply to self catering accommodation
