Do you think people should be advised to check case rates in their local area?

Many people I know were unaware that you could input your postcode daily, and check the weekly cases in your area:

I think it could be a useful way of keeping people informed about their risks. If you can see that cases are spiking in your area, you may hold on off on certain meet-ups or activities...conversely, for the chunks of the country that are relatively virus free, they should be able to make different risk assessments.

I thought everyone did that anyway?

Is it covid messenger that sends the stats for your area to you by email every day? I can't remember the details (I'm sure someone helpful will), but I get the emails and they're handy to know how things are, as you say.

My only worry is that I'm being told there after 6 cases, when actually there are 200 other positive that couldn't get a test booked... Shock Wink Sad

Good reminder, thanks :)

I met up with a couple of friends last week and they both had no idea it existed (they only used things like the BBC tool which gives stats about cities, rather than small local areas).

Someone just sent me this thread. Yes it’s www.covidmessenger.com. And yes I run it. 😀I send all the stats for your council straight to your inbox each morning.

I started it for the very reasons as you mentioned - we were just really struggling with day to day decisions without knowing what the risk was in our immediate area. You are welcome to sign up if it would be helpful. www.covidmessenger.com
