DS started Y7 a couple of weeks ago. They've just sent out their intended plans in case of lockdown or self-isolation.
The plans are the children to follow their usual timetable which is 5 hour long lessons. They need to be in a communal area (not their own bedroom) and need a consistent internet connection.
Now, we pretty lucky as we have a decent size house with high speed internet and our son has a laptop. But even so three computers connected to Teams/ zoom all day is going to be a stretch. It's all going to get chaotic if the internet plays up. I'm also concerned that five hours plugged into a laptop is a bit intense for an eleven year old still adapting to a secondary school timetable. DS has struggled a little to adapt and needs more support to get homework done than I was expecting (more than he needed in Y6).
I'd love to hear from parents who've already been through this at high school (primary seems easy in comparison). Particularly any good tips. I'm hoping it will only be for the at some point inevitable bubble quarantine but also gearing up for a longer term homeschool.
