Ds,dd and I all had a covid test yesterday results back this morning all negative.
Phoned schools this morning to tell them and because ds still has a slight cough they've said he can't return until its gone. Dds school said she can go if I email a copy of her results through which I have done ive nothing to hide. I've phoned my boss and had the same had to email them my results and they will get back to me to let me know if I can return.
What is the point of putting eveybody through the tests if they still can't go to school or work its utter madness .

Is he well in himself? Does he have a temperature?

Even with a positive covid test you can go back with a cough after the isolation because coughs can stay around for a while, same with the changes to taste and smell.

I would email them the guidance.

Yes hes well in himself no temperature hes in a 300 bubble at secondary school so any child who coughs in the presence of a teacher is immediately sent home.

Send them this.
Ending self-isolation
If you have had symptoms of COVID-19 or a positive test, then you may end your self-isolation after 10 days and return to your normal routine if you do not have symptoms other than cough or loss of sense of smell or taste. If you still have a high temperature, keep self-isolating until your temperature returns to normal and seek medical advice.

After 10 days, if you just have a cough or a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia), you do not need to continue to self-isolate. This is because a cough or anosmia can last for several weeks once the infection has gone. The 10-day period starts from the day when you first became ill.

If you continue to feel unwell and have not already sought medical advice, you should use the NHS 111 online COVID-19 service. If you do not have internet access, call NHS 111. For a medical emergency dial 999.
