Nicola is announcing tonight at 8pm...evening announcements freak me out.

Is our fate the same as England?Anything as-long as schools don't shut again it's so not fair on our kids. (My opinion-not saying anyone else is wrong).

She’s about to make a statement now.

wishthiswasreallife · 22/09/2020 14:31

Not sounding great...

Didn't think that was too bad.

No mixing households indoors but under 18s can meet in groups up to 6 people, in outdoors settings. That's a good thing.

Under 12s, no limit on them. Household thing doesn't affect them.

emmathedilemma · 22/09/2020 14:48

There's live updates on the BBC website from her parliamentary speech.
It'll be tighter rules than England just to get one up on BoJo.

Scottishgirl85 · 22/09/2020 14:51

She's done it? Ban on household mixing indoors. Wish we had same in England...

emmathedilemma · 22/09/2020 14:54

www.bbc.com/news/live/world-54245931
The headline says "Ban on meeting in houses" but the text below says "will no longer be able to meet indoors" which is a wider meaning (pubs, restaurants etc) than just "houses" so that's not entirely clear without listening to what she actually said.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 22/09/2020 14:57

Absolutely gutted, that’s my visit to my sisters in Aberdeen ruined then. Worked throughout in community nursing, followed all the guidance and now I can’t even go and see my sister, 1 other household considering I don’t go to other households on a regular basis anyway! I really needed the break

thedevilinablackdress · 22/09/2020 14:58

I listened. No meeting in houses. Can in pubs as before.

wishthiswasreallife · 22/09/2020 15:05

Meet everywhere else but your house 🤦‍♀️

OP posts:
emmathedilemma · 22/09/2020 15:06

Likewise @AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii haven't been able to visit family for weeks as they're in restricted areas down south and now can't even visit friends locally (apart from my 1 bubble person) or elsewhere in Scotland. I'm absolutely done with this now. I'm sure as hell not going to spend money in the pubs.

LST · 22/09/2020 15:06

Is childcare from family members exempt?

wishthiswasreallife · 22/09/2020 15:09

Single people/parents can still have extended household bubbles etc for childcare

OP posts:
sunflower1022 · 22/09/2020 15:53

Apologies if this is a silly question, but will estate agents, surveyors and prospective buyers be exempt from this?

Ecosse · 22/09/2020 16:10

And yet again today we have the vast majority of cases in Glasgow and Lanarkshire- 270 or 70% by my calculations.

These areas should have faced tougher measures weeks ago and I find it unbelievable that pubs and restaurants are remaining open in these areas.

While in regions with very few cases we now have people banned from having a friend at home.

annabel85 · 22/09/2020 16:13

under 18s can meet in groups up to 6 people, in outdoors settings. That's a good thing.

Not sure how many kids will want to be hanging around outside in Scotland during winter.

She's taken serious action though and it should help.

Ultimately the key will be enforcement.

wishthiswasreallife · 22/09/2020 16:30

Unfortunately Iv been hearing at school pick up not a lot of people are planning to stick to the new rules which I think is ridiculous

OP posts:
Orangeblossom7777 · 22/09/2020 16:45

Will it not just send people to the pub as they can't meet at home? Like Scotland doesn't have a problem with drinking already Hmm

Palladin · 22/09/2020 16:55

Is NS implying that teenage children may not be allowed to come home from university for Christmas? There's no way I would comply with this.

MonTheGoose · 22/09/2020 17:23

Should have been celebrating my mum and dads 50th wedding anniversary next week and that’s now been cancelled.
We live in an area with low rates but the whole of Scotland has to suffer because Sturgeon refused to lock down Glasgow.

RasberryRoyale · 22/09/2020 17:50

Nicola has also said that people in offices should be working from home if they can. If necessary they can put a legal duty on companies to allow home working.

MonTheGoose · 22/09/2020 17:51

But the advice about WFH in Scotland hasn’t changed since March Confused
RasberryRoyale · 22/09/2020 17:57

It hasn’t but a lot of employers including that of my DH had started re -introducing office days once/ twice a week.

I assume this will stop now.
