Cold and sore throat bug going round the school doesn't fill me with confidence

There is a cold and sore throat bug going round my sons high school. They have only been back for 2 weeks and nearly every kid has had this bug.
It's making me very nervous with hand washing and face masks it's not really done much to prevent a cold bug going round so what chance is there with Covid.
Also worried now every kid will pick everything up as the6 have been kept away from others for 6 months so now wondering is this what it's going to be like kids Ill every week?

Are they wearing facemasks in school? Im so muddled which bit of the uk is doing what.

But it doesnt surprise me that 30 children sitting shoulder to shoulder in a badly ventilated room pass bugs around, even if they wash hands.

They wearing masks in corridors and at lunch time after eating that's it.

Did you really think hundreds or in most secondary schools thousands all in one building with no SD would be OK? Teachers have been saying this for months.

The focus on hand washing is pointless theatre.

Aerosol transmission is how it spreads and all the soap in the world can't change that.

No obviously I had worries, I just thought with extra preventive measures my son would have lasted more than a week without a cold bug going round the school

My sons are adults now, but always got colds when they went back to school in September.

There was an article in the Guardian yesterday, saying space is key in reducing transmission, not hand washing
