Wwyd- re dd coughing?

Dd3 is 14. She came down with a heavy cold towards the end of last week. Nose heavily blocked causing her to lose sleep as she couldn't breath properly, she also had a sore throat (typical cold symptoms). No temp throughout.
During the day yesterday she developed a slight cough.
Over the course of today her cough has got worse and worse. I can't send her into school tomoz as given the current circumstances she will be sent home again I'm sure.
Bit of a backstory - dd had a severe case of bilateral pneumonia 2 years ago. She was hospitalized and on oxygen. Her sats at the time were 72%.
We now have an oximeter to keep an eye on her as when we had taken her into the doctors they had almost sent her home. As she had no temp and they couldn't hear anything on her chest (it was rock solid in the xray). It was the last minute check with the oximeter that revealed how poorly she was.
Her current sats are at 96/97% so that's ok but her heart rate is around 100 at rest. So a tad high.
I can hear a slight wheeze this afternoon but it doesnt sound phlegmy (but it didn't when she was very poorly either).
I tried ringing 119 but the automated message said they were experiencing high call volumes and to go onto the website to book a test. Which is practically impossible anyway.
I have 2 other children at home, 1 recently gone to uni and dh and myself (I work in a primary school with 4 and 5 year olds).
What would you do? Doctors for her chest or Covid test or just keep her at home and keep an eye on her but keep my others off aswell? Am I being overly cautious?

I would do all three. Call your GP, and keep trying for the test. They are hard to get but not impossible - key is to keep refreshing. Ask if anyone you know locally remembers what time they got theirs - they seem to update at the same time each day for certain sites.

I agree with @RMarieClaire

Your dd has a persistent cough that’s getting worse not better. Arrange a test, self isolate your family and speak to GP for advice. You are not being overly cautious, I would say given the context of Covid and your daughters previous respiratory issues you are being sensible.

Let us know how you get on OP.

Unfortunately I would also say do all three. Bloody nightmare but nothing else for it.Hope she improves soon.

Honestly do all 3. Forget about being overly cautious - If I'd listened to my own instincts because I was worried I'd be judged as a "time" / "resource" waster (even by a triage nurse in A&e who was very wrong) because I didn't think I was that bad, I'd have probably died 3 times by now. Don't worry about what others think. Hope all is ok.

I feel for you. Not as serious as your DD, but my DS has a nice new cough, but temperature normal. It's so difficult to tell whether it is continuous or not. Really do not want all 3 back at home especially as 2 are completely well.

Whatever it is, my youngest brought it in (on her first day back her new teacher sat her next to the class bully, who had nose candles and kept throwing his dirty tissues at her, which stuck to her hair, nice).

Just aaaarrrrgggghhhh, other DD in year 10 so really want her at school. Can't travel for test as we don't drive.

Thank you for your help. I couldn't get through last night. So I filled in an e consult with the doctor. Should have a phone call from them today to advise me more.
