Day out in London- would you do it?

My DH wants to do a fun day out in London this week- get the boat from London Bridge and have a look around Greenwich, and lunch and museum in the afternoon. We have two young DS. The headlines are making me anxious about wanting to use public transport, or be out and about in busy places and more than is necessary. Am I being too ott?

No way. I had a bottomless brunch in London booked for yesterday, paid for before lockdown but I didn't go.

Friends thought it ridiculous and went anyway but I couldn't face using public transport when I didn't have to. DH and I went out several weeks ago for an evening, got the train which was fine on the way but the return journey was hell and train was packed with drunk young people all disrespecting social distancing and none wearing face masks.

I live in central London and had to get the tube today (I try to avoid it as much as possible) and it was actually very busy and hard to socially distance. London has been getting busier in some areas so it's no surprise that the R rate and number of cases in London is increasing.

I wish daytrippers would stay away for a while until things settle down again and have a little consideration for those of us who actually live and work in London.

London is super quiet right now!! Was on the tube and overground yesterday and was he carriages had barely anyone in them!

Make sure you book attractions In advance! Natural history museum is really fun - always recommend that!

Went to the zoo last week too had a great time!

I’d say it’s a better time than any in London - rare to get it so quiet! It’s been a dream getting around lately

I was in London this past week! We avoided public transport apart from one tube trip to Kensington for the National History Museum. The tube was certainly quieter than usual but not exactly socially distanced as people still sit next to you. We got one of the boats on the Thames and there were only a few groups on so that shouldn't be a problem. It was great to take advantage of the museums being quieter, although some parts of the NHM were very crowded. I was sad to see how many restaurants in central London are still closed Sad A couple we went to did not have any staff members wearing visors which I thought wasn't great.

We went the other week for my dds birthday, the natural history museum was lovely and quiet with loads of room. You need to book, but it'll probably be the only time your kids will get to properly see the dinosaur exhibit, without jostling crowds. Outside the Darwin centre there's a wildlife garden, and staff with activities, to explore, which is as socially distanced as any kids activity I've ever done.

I did a similar trip with my kids last week (I live in London but not been into central London or on public transport since before Lockdown- so pretty cautious). It was great.

Clipper boats were very quiet as was London Bridge. You can even sit outside on the boat to reduce the risk.

A few weeks ago I W iOS have done without hesitation. Now with increasing cases and an impending lockdown (of some form) I don’t think I would. I am generally on the more cautious end of the scale though.

WTF! A few weeks ago I would have done
