Time for blended learning?

The WHO states teenagers spread Covid as much as adults whilst our government is ignoring this bit of science.

Surely now we're in our second wave, to protect the NHS, secondary schools should not be full every day? Only some year groups in at a time allowing classes to spread out more with online learning provided for the days certain year groups aren't in?

Video is from the WHO. Not the band 😉

Seems to be of very limited value to me, the two groups are very likely to be in contact outside of the schools, either via third parties, or simple friendship groups and extra-curriculars, that means contacts between the two groups will still happen so transmission would still end up going through both pretty quickly. The only advantage would be in slightly larger separation when in class, however outside of super-spreader events the typical infection rate is already low so I cannot see it doing anything but delaying spread by a small amount.

With the individuals all at very low risk in themselves, there's little upside to that delay, so I cannot see the benefits to blended learning given the harm lack of education can cause.

But isn't that what the government wants? A delay? A circuit break?

Realistically two half terms were missed, approximately 12 weeks on average depending on term time dates in different parts of the country. The majority of the last fortnight of a summer term is much more relaxed in both primary and secondary from what I can remember! I'm not saying that no learning happens but it's not as intensive as earlier in the year. So taking that into account 10 weeks of good quality learning was lost not months and months.
