Yep. Communal areas, but not classrooms.

CovidPostingName · 20/09/2020 08:27

Both my son's schools require them in all indoor communal areas and in queues outside, but not in the classroom or during break or lunchtimes when not in a queue. Ds2 had chosen to wear one all day including in the classroom, he's autistic and very anxious. Ds1 just wears his as required.

Our do during lesson changeover and social time, unless they are outside or sitting down eating.

Getting more concerned with dd school

By choice only in communal areas. I prefer that at present.

In Bolton. Staff and students in all communal areasa unless eating. Most students are also keeping them on in lesson. I have mine off when at the front of the room (in my magical 2 metres, which is actually 1.1m) but it is on the second I need to move anywhere near to students. It is impossible to teach without going into the students so it is masks for everyone if I need to go closer.

Yes in communal areas, and it's being enforced.

They are also being kept in groups of 30 in one classroom all day, only move when essential for the lesson.

Teacher has a zone which no pupil should enter and teacher doesn't leave. If the teacher leaves the zone to help a pupil they all have to put their masks on.

ProperlyPdOff · 20/09/2020 10:14

Yes, in communal areas, buses, queues etc.
Ironically school has 3 cases, whereas another local school without masks has none - not that I think masks are unsafe. Far from it. It is just that schools are not an island and pupils can still contract Covid-19 outside school. Hopefully the masks stopped some of the further transmission though.

LilyPond2 · 20/09/2020 11:04

Yep, compulsory in communal areas in DD's school. And so they should be given that we live in an area on the government's watch list and school has already had a Covid case (and I have difficulty believing it's really just one). But at the neighbouring partner school masks are optional and scarcely anyone is wearing them. Yet again a complete abdication of responsibility by our government which has left it up to head teachers to decide. Head teachers are not experts in epidemiology and are clearly not the people best placed to make such decisions.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 20/09/2020 11:09

FE here. Management say they can advise students but not enforce in communal areas - stairs, corridors etc. In turn many choose not to follow the advice and give a blank stare if you attempt to advise. Sad

Todaythiscouldbe · 20/09/2020 11:12

No. It has been advised in communal areas but not enforced. The year group never move out of their bubble anyway so it seems a bit pointless.

kimlo · 20/09/2020 11:17

yes in communal areas, both staff and pupils. It changed from allowed to have to once we went in to increased restrictions.

All day. Temperature taken on entry. Obligatory.

Classes of 12 max.

Very well organised and protecting all as much as possible, here in Spain.

Nobody complains. It is the norm and for the greater good. I feel so sorry for UK teachers (my poor Dsis is one)

Much the same here in New England except no temperature taken.

No masks anywhere in Secondary school and assemblies of 300 + staff. Again no masks (South East)
