What’s the chances of my haircut being cancelled?

I’ve got a haircut on Tuesday morning, eyebrow wax on Monday night - both desperately needing done .

Local area has pretty low cases at the moment - not sure how low exactly but it’s one of the lowest in U.K... No talk of lockdowns here yet .

I’m getting myself into a flap thinking it will all be cancelled - I know it sounds so trivial, but it’s the only wee slice of normality I can find, and I’m desperate to get my hair out of my bloody eyes ...

What’s the chances these will both be cancelled/‘made illegal’ do you think? Pretty high?

@Legoandloldolls 😀😀😀

I get that, so FYI

Watched my mum in a semi vegetative state die in a hospital bed over the course of 2 months when I was 15 years old, have suffered major PTSD ever since

Had a baby in February two weeks before lock down and fell out with all my family so had no support from them apart from my dad who is 75 and highly vulnerable so we had to shield to keep him safe

Also same as you was bullied badly as a child for excess hair, sister in law bleached my sideburns when I was 12 to help and when I went to school I was ripped even more

Suffer major anxiety, in & out of therapy for years with no real progress

Not taking away from your problems (Kind of explained my situation so you see you’re not alone there) and I’m sorry if my original post came across as judgemental, I think it’s just the way you came across rather than the act of getting eyebrows done. By all means have them done but if we do go into another lockdown then that suggests things are bad, so at that point I wouldn’t be upset about having those appointments cancelled, I’d be more upset we were in a dangerous position... again

Apologies again, it wasn’t really aimed at you personally, just my feelings on the matter but I appreciate everyone is different.

Take care

I think it's very unlikely op. It'll be more stopping people mixing huseholds I think. I think anything to stop businesses will be the week after.

AuntieMarys · 20/09/2020 10:35

That was my first thought too. Hair appointment a week on Tuesday, plus facial and nails the following day.
Plus 3 UK breaks in October.

There are some miserable bastards around aren't there? A reasonable query about a haircut being met with "don't you know people are dying??!" Some of us would actually like to enjoy a life worth living before we die, thanks very much!!

Elephant75 · 20/09/2020 14:51

I hear you OP. I'm getting mine cut and coloured on Thursday. Might try and bring it forward now. Enjoy your haircut. Some people are so miserable about people having anything to look forward to.

OpheliasCrayon · 20/09/2020 15:00

I have no idea OP. But based on your thread I've just booked mine for the 1st Oct. So if they do get cancelled after that I have you to thank for me getting mine done!

Heatherjayne1972 · 20/09/2020 15:23

I work in a dental practice and I asked my boss what the chances are of us being closed again are. He said it’s very low as we have the right ppe - we always were very strict on cross contamination procedures anyway -( in my opinion it was a huge mistake to cancel dentistry back in March)

I’d like to think that hairdressers tattoo parlours and beauty places etc will be left open as they also use the correct ppe now
Fingers crossed

iolaus · 20/09/2020 15:27

We're in local lockdown and can still have haircuts etc - just as long as they are within the area

My hairdresser has posted with a few now free slots because the people who had booked them don't live in the county so can't come - those of us who live here can

I wish I could ! I’ve been trying since I was 16 or so . Can’t work out which hairs are meant to be gone and which not . The rest of my face I can shave so that’s OK but my eyebrows ... they end up right across my nose ... hopefully it isn’t another six months before I can get them done . Between that and my fringe that doesn’t quite clip back but also comes right over my eye ... I’m focusing on the small stuff or I’ll cry over the big things .

I have hairdressers booked in on Thursday so hopefully the apocalypse doesn't happen before then.

Yes, people are dying - just like people are dying of cancer, old age, dementia, strokes, accidents, heart attacks, and domestic violence - but those deaths, which go on day in day out don't seem to count. But Covid oooooh - that's like a special death and some righteous bullies on the internet want to suck every morsel of joy out of life forever in the name of their grand religion of eternal misery and mandatory clapping for all.

It's my one indulgence on myself - not on the family, not on the house, not on keeping all the plates spinning during this whole fucking wretched time - so yep, I hope it goes ahead... if it doesn't - then I shall be bloody well near the front of the line when it does again! It makes me feel a little bit better about myself and about life - and at a time when my mental health is shot to hell (at least partially as a result of sentiments like the one trying to piss all over this thread near the start) - I'll take any lift in spirits I can get.

If I pledge to get it dyed rainbow would that satisfy the arses? (Actually considering lilac with hot pink slices through it)

amicissimma · 20/09/2020 20:25

@zoezoeok89

Unbelievable. People are dying, your eyebrow wAx is so unimportant.
On average about 1500 people die every day in the UK. How does driving hair and beauty technicians out of job affect that?

Many of those 1500 will have enjoyed hair and beauty treatments during their lives.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 20/09/2020 20:49

Fingers firmly crossed for you OP. I feel confident you'll get them done ok but it's worrying isn't it? I got my hair done two weeks ago and I am looking at it wondering when it will be done again and what state it might get into. It was demoralising having roots over the last lockdown even if it wasn't the most important issue in the world.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 21/09/2020 14:08

Fingers crossed for you OP. I’ve had my hair cut and coloured twice since the hairdressers reopened and it looked so much better which in turn made me feel better.
