Nursery confirmed case

So we've had a confirmed case of Covid in DCs nursery, she will need to self isolate for 14 days as she attended two sessions with the child. No test required unless she starts to display symptoms.

I can't seem to find out if DH and I need to self isolate without anyone displaying symptoms, does anyone know?

You only need to isolate if she develops symptoms

Just the child needs to isolate unless they get symptoms and then you all do

No you don't need to isolate. Just the person in contact with a confirmed case has to isolate not their household.

If a person in a household has symptoms, the household isolates unless they get a negative test.

Great thanks, I couldn't work it out.

As she's 3 she obviously can't self isolate from us so I wasn't sure if that made a difference, it's a small chance but I'd feel awful if I passed it on to a colleague etc

You need to follow this advice

www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/how-to-avoid-spreading-coronavirus-to-people-you-live-with/

and also see if you can WFH

Because if you are not well isolated from the person in your household who may be incubating Covid, you are essentially sharing the same risk.

If you must go out, then you need to be completely and consistently diligent about social distancing and hygiene.

I think it would be only fair to warn your workplace. Because if anyone there is exceptionally vulnerable (and you might not know if that applies) it gives your management the chance to make sure that they (and indeed everyone) is not put at avoidable risk

Thanks Sextrain food for thought.

Neither of us work in particularly Covid safe environments which allow for adequate distancing so it needs to be considered.

DHs employer have told him her needs to get tested then return to work if it's negative but he can't get tested as he doesn't meet the requirements so we're a bit stuck

You do not have to isolate unless someone in the household has symptoms. However it would be wise to avoid non essential social contacts and WFH if you can.
