Anyone been asked to take part in a blood test study?

We got a letter though (seems very official) asking us to allow a study worker around to take a blood sample for over 16s and swabs for under as part of a study into antibodies and things. Each person gets £50 in vouchers for taking part. Apparently we were randomly selected from a database with addresses.

Not sure about that? I'd be a bit suspicious to be honest.
I had a letter from Ipso Mori inviting me to participate in a voluntary blood test antibody study. I registered online on a government website and was then sent a home finger prick testing pack.
I did this (it was like a pregnancy test stick and you saw the results in 10 minutes.)
I then took a photo of the stick results and went back on the website to register the results, which were negative for antibodies by the way.
This seemed the right way to do it - I'd be very nervous of someone coming to my house for swabs and tests and offering incentives - there's no need, you can do it at home! More importantly, you dispose of your test yourself so you know your blood analysis/DNA can't go anywhere...

I am part of a study, no incentive, blood test kit is sent to me, I do the test then send it back, have an app to enter temp/ symptoms/heart rate and blood do. Thermometer and do meter provided.

We are doing it and it’s fine. I work in research and checked it out. I was keen to get us all antibody tests as I am sure we have all had it. Nurses doing it have been lovely and actually were helpful getting Swab test results early to us from one of the swans when dc developed a cough and needed a negative test to be back at school. They actually have been doing swabs not bloods at first. It’s also the easiest money I’ve earned in a while and the vouchers can be for loads of places I’ve just put them into my amazon account.

The people/ nurses who come stay outside in full ppe and give you tests to do and wait outside.
For volume and diverse uptake it is typical to offer incentives.

Probably above board but ring up the organisation who sent you the letter, using their official number on their own website, to check if you are not sure.
