Does this mean we can socialise outside of the home and garden?

I think so? Like when lockdown was first easing, you could meet up with people in public parks but not private gardens. Is it like that?

plesiosaur · 18/09/2020 12:56

no it means that you cannot mix households even in a garden

Spied · 18/09/2020 12:58

You can't mix with other households. Not even in your own home or garden.

Bettyboop89 · 18/09/2020 12:59

I took it as meaning we can still meet in parks and go for walks etc

Kitkate78 · 18/09/2020 12:59

This is an extract the NE restrictions On Gov.uk which sound similar to what we’re getting in Lancs.... so no mixing with abyone outside your household bubble either at home or in public.

It means that you cannot meet with people outside of your household other than in a public place. (To try and limit close contact I think.)

Kitkate78 · 18/09/2020 13:01

Although it only says they ‘advise’ against it in public spaces! 🤷🏻‍♀️

The word “household” should be replaced with “people you live with” It is causing apparent confusion repeatedly. Too many people bizarrely think it means visiting your house.

UnaMujer · 18/09/2020 13:04

I live Lancashire and have check our city councils website. It’s definitely you can’t meet with other households anywhere including in public.

Jaxhog · 18/09/2020 13:06

It looks like you can. But why would you?

november90 · 18/09/2020 13:06

See I don't read it like that. I read it saying that we cannot meet with others outside of our hole or bubble in ours or their home or garden. It doesn't say anything about meeting them outside of our homes or gardens so I'm assuming we can continue to do this with the rule of 6 etc!

Basically can I meet my friend for a walk down the prom 😂

OP posts:
plesiosaur · 18/09/2020 13:09

but the rule of 6 does not apply in extra lockdown areas. I also live in Lancs

notinthestarsigns · 18/09/2020 13:12

The way I read it is you can’t meet with other households in house or garden but you can meet with them in a public place, although you are advised not to 🤷‍♀️

A household doesn't just mean people that you live with though. If you form a support bubble with a single adult 'household' then then you are classed as one household (even though you don't live together).

Shopaholic100 · 18/09/2020 13:20

I didn’t think people in these areas were allowed to meet up anyway. I’m sure in Kirklees they said you couldn’t meet at home or gardens, so what’s changed? I wish they would be more clear about the rules!

Try here.

What part of Lancashire are you in?

janinlondon · 18/09/2020 13:22

There are some thing "banned" - like visiting other households or having them visit you in your homes or gardens. Some things are "advised against" - like meeting other people in pubs or restaurants. Some of the councils have now come out with clearer information to this effect, having been deluged by enquiries from the populations of Birmingham, Newcastle, Durham etc.

Napqueen1234 · 18/09/2020 13:25

It’s different to the NE restrictions it’s like the Manchester ones. No meeting inside the home or own gardens but you can meet in public (e.g parks/outdoor spaces/pub gardens) but must follow rule of 6 and social distancing in those circumstances.

Napqueen1234 · 18/09/2020 13:26

@plesiosaur it does apply to meeting in public.

I think they're quite clear once you've found your particular area. That bit isn't always easy, but on the govt website the NE is quite specific areas. Lancs has quite defined areas too

I'm down South, and have the same problem as I live in one country, work daily in two others & nearest shopping is yet another one. Trying to see what local infection rates are like is virtually impossible & if there are local restrictions it's going to be a bloody minefield!

That seems quite a good summary too.

WhentheDealGoesDown1 · 18/09/2020 13:32

It looks like meeting in houses and gardens is law and public places is just advice, you won’t get stopped or fined, so up to you to consider the risk of meeting on the prom but keeping to rule of 6

DamitJanet · 18/09/2020 13:34

You can’t meet in private homes or gardens, you can meet, socially distanced, in public but you are advised against it

plesiosaur · 18/09/2020 13:34

in my area, you cannot meet anyone outdoors at all.
