What’s it like where you are?

I’m in Somerset.

Cases numbers are very low with only 1 hospital admission. 2 schools sent home bubbles, but not near me.

My schools are operation masks on corridors, socially distanced seating, one way systems and staggered plays. No cases local to me.

Things seem to be working well.

I’d be interested to know what it is like where you are?

The same here (south). Cases are very low, schools operating with care. No classes isolating that I am aware of. Masks on school buses, swimming lessons and after school clubs restarted.
Masks in shops and people meeting mostly in gardens or pub gardens. Things are a bit subdued but not far off normal.

MarshaBradyo · 18/09/2020 08:38

Schools open
High compliance with masks in shops, nearly everyone
Cases rising slowly but not high

London

Rural Perthshire. We’ve heard about it on the wireless.

Greater Manchester ... cases now Increasing very quickly but people also can’t get tested. School bubbles bursting and closing all over the region.

Local lockdown rules of not having people in houses or gardens been in places ages are obviously not being followed. Pubs/restaurants are supposed to be one household inside but many are turning a blind eye with groups of friends out together.

As for hospitals I work in one but on leave. They were starting to increase but were still low last week. Issue is the hospital is pretty busy with autumn/ winter cases already.

North London-seems fine here. Couple of schools closed bubbles due to positive tests- although this was early Sept when you could get a test. Most of us reckon we had the brunt of it in March when local schools were only getting 10 kids/per class in each day before lockdown. I think its moved up North as cases are much lower here. However lack of testing AGAIN means no one really knows the true scale.

I'm in Bedfordshire inbetween both Bedford and Milton Keynes and doing ok cases are rising though slowly schools are all ok for the moment but honestly don't expect that to last

BrigitsBigKnickers · 18/09/2020 09:10

Seems quite low here. For the three large most local hospitals to me there were only 3 COVID admissions. A few cases in the town where I live according to the map. Hoping it will stay like that.

Frazzled2207 · 18/09/2020 10:07

@x2boys
depressing isn't it.
A few fuckwits are putting the entire region at risk.
Rather than increasing restrictions, I definitely think there needs to be tighter enforcement of current restrictions. Because there will always be a significant minority that won't listen and it just isn't fair on the rest of us.

Leeds. Cases rising but not as rapidly as in other places and in our town cases are low. Although a member of staff at school tested positive but as they had no contact with kids, school was just shut for a day for a deep clean. I've heard of a few schools with classes isoalting but not too bad at the moment. There seems to be a mix of people that either think it's a hoax or think it's as deadly as the plague, I sit somewhere more in the middle. Mask compliance is ok locally and shops are quiet enough to distance, at the right times. Expecting to have tougher restrictions in the next week though.

MrDarcysMa · 18/09/2020 10:18

I've no idea. It was creeping up, new cases were up to 22 last week but nobody can get hold of tests now so lo and behold the new cases graph appears like it's al safe as new cases are dropping Hmm
My placement students at work have been telling me how they've been doing house party crawls instead is bar crawls since being back at uni so I've got them working from home.

MrDarcysMa · 18/09/2020 10:18

Oh and I'm in Sussex

UnicornAndSparkles · 18/09/2020 10:21

relatively low levels (south east) but I've heard of 2 schools having one confirmed case each today. Not surprising given the number of idiots wearing their masks around their mouth but leaving their nose free to breathe in and out the virus.

VioletCharlotte · 18/09/2020 10:31

Low numbers of cases where I am (large town in the south east). 5 cases reported per 100,000 last week, which is down on the previous week. Looking at towns and cities nearby, the picture seems to be similar. There's such a north/south divide.

SqidgeBum · 18/09/2020 11:48

Gloucestershire. Cases are rising, but we have a out 12 per 100k. We havent had a death since about the 25th of August, so really not bad IMO. People here seem generally good with avoiding large gatherings and wearing masks. I have been reading about possible national restrictions which would mean no household can mix with another household, which has peeved me off big time considering how low the cases and deaths are around me.
