Flu vaccine & temperature

Has anyone seen / heard of any guidance in relation to the flu vaccine, temperatures and Covid rules? I would like my kids to have the vaccine. But, they always get a temperature 3 days later. Surely they cannot possibly test every child who experiences this, or make them stay at home for 14 days?
I really want them to have the vaccine, but the thought of having to sort childcare / school / work for 2 weeks or get an unnecessary test is putting me right off.
Surely someone, somewhere has pre-emoted this issue? I tried our school nurse today, but didn’t manage to contact her.

I think that's just a risk you have to take in order to protect your child from flu.

I absolutely want to protect my child from flu. But I absolutely don’t want to have to isolate them all for 2 weeks because of the vaccine. Our eldest is doing her GCSE’s. It’s a hard enough time for her, without added stress of having to miss school for 2 weeks because of a 5 year olds reaction to a flu spray.
Surrey there will be some sort of guidance / someone who has thought it through. So many parents at my work today were saying they won’t bother with flu vaccine for themselves or their kids this year.

Those of you who have had it. What are you going to do / what did you do if you / kids got a temperature after?
One of mine always gets a super high temp a few days later. Would that mean self isolation and a covid test? So many people at my work today (nhs) Considering not having one to avoid a potential 14 days of isolating.

Yep, I am very seriously considering not consenting this year to flu vaccines for the children, and I’m normally very pro vaccine and will take anything going. Under current rules and based on past reactions we’d almost certainly have to have two weeks off school and since they’re low risk for flu (as are we) I’m not sure I want to risk it unless some sensible clarification comes out (I’m not holding my breath). Maybe if I could time it for the day before half term, but I suspect that’s unlikely!

I’ve got a baby & was advised that if she gets a temp up to 48 hours post vaccine, we don’t need to worry. It’s a side affect not covid. But if a fever continues over that time frame, we’d need to consider it was something else.

3 days post vaccine seems a bit late to get side affects? Is it def that long? You’d usually expect side effects to be quite quickly after the jab..

Ask for injection instead that's not live?

Treesofwood · 17/09/2020 22:35

Bol87 I don't think they could assume that it is not Covid when local authorities do schools full of children day after day. Could miss a massive amount of cases on the assumption it's a flu vaccine side effect.

My GP also advised ignoring temps associated with childhood vaccinations. Can you call your GP and ask?

halcyondays · 17/09/2020 22:45

We got our flu jabs done at Boots today and they said that we got a temperature we could assume it was down to the jab, but if we had any other symptoms we should follow the government guidelines.
