Dido Harding has denied that track and trace is failing and that no one saw the rise in test coming. Pretty sure any parent, medic or teacher could tell you there would be a rise, not only when schools returned, but also due to the change in season in general.

I don't understand how back in April/May they were saying that there would be an Autumn/Winter rise in cases and yet now we are heading into this period the government are actually shocked that cases are rising.

The main meaning of "to refute" is "to prove wrong by providing evidence or argument."

It has acquired a second meaning of "to deny, without providing any evidence or argument."

Knaves like the word "refute" because it leads to reports which read simply, "Dido Harding refuted this claim," leaving the reader to guess whether she provided evidence or just crossed her fingers behind her back and wished on the Denial Fairy.

I had already assumed from posts on here and other reports that it was being used like the secondary meaning. So not wrong as such, just infuriatingly useless as a response.

Yes they are, they appointed her and they are who she answers too.

If she goes, they will just appoint someone equally as poor.

Anyway, its too late, will take months to fix track and trace and up testing capacity.

Are we even using the Public health Labs ? or was the big idea to use new untried super centres.

Why should incompetent women not be called out, just as incompetent men are?
