The head of Test and Trace has said she doesn't believe "anybody was expecting to see the really sizeable increase in demand" for coronavirus tests.

hmm, sure of course. No one was expecting this . Oh, possibly except every parent of school aged children and teachers and school staff all across the country, and basically anyone at all with any awareness of back to school, who have known all along that exactly this will happen.

I didn't expect idiotic people to be requesting tests for their kids just because of a cold,

DD who started primary school a couple of weeks ago coughed 6 times getting ready for school this morning (over about 20mins) and once on the way. Fine in herself, ate breakfast well, no sore throat, whole family temp scanned normal before leaving the house.

DH let the TA who is the gatekeeper in the morning know (to be polite as we know the school are taking it quite seriously, and also just in case she started coughing again later in the morning and announced to all and sundry how she had been coughing when putting on her school uniform). She scanned temp normal but got spun anyway and the school office confirmed that she will not be allowed back for 14 days unless they have sighted a copy of negative CV test.

Test booked for tomorrow morning (after 1.5hrs starting at the appointment release time refreshing online application and pressing submit). Testing centre only a few miles away thankfully. Projected to take up to 1 hour from arrival to finish.

She hasn't coughed since the one cough on the way to school but it's not the TA's fault- she had to make a snap decision and quite understandably doesn't want to be the one to risk letting CV across the threshold of a hitherto CV free school in an area with a low number of cases which naturally wants to keep it that way!

Unbelievable admittance that they never thought the demand for tests would be so high! These are suppose to be intelligent people running the country, making important decisions but seem to be the only ones who couldn’t see a rise in tests when schools reopened being inevitable! If it wasn’t so serious it’ll be funny. The government just react to everything and lurch from one problem to another. Far more foresight needs to be occurring. Not popular but probably necessary the rule of 6 needs to apply to all activities apart work and school, a country wide curfew of 10pm needs to be put in place while testing is ramped up. If that doesn’t get things back under control a 3week lockdown.

I see there is no longer much mention of the r rate!

She didn't prepare for her previous company to be hacked is she one of these it won't happen.

PinkLegoBrick · 17/09/2020 23:14

Ha. I expected the government to say that.

The only way to get on top of the situation is to restructure things in a way that they don't want to face up to
They are fucking up because they can't face up
