Would you go on a UK city break at the moment? I know most people are going on UK seaside holidays this year but just wondered if anyone has done a city break.

Depends on the city! I would give Bolton a miss!

Seriously I wouldn’t be put off necessary I live in London and have done a fair bit of tourist stuff over the summer it’s nice and quiet compared to normal!

But I wouldn’t go anywhere with a very high infection rate, and I would check what I wanted to see was open (London museums are but the theatres are shut)

I went to London last month, it was fine.

Why wouldn’t you? People have to get on with their lives.

Yeah I agree, its just I live in a very rural area so don't really know what life is like in cities at the moment but good to hear things are normal(ish)

Going tomorrow. Just remember that restaurants etc are at reduced capacity so bookings are needed for places you never needed to before. I would avoid Bolton, no restaurants!

Yes why would you not? I went to Italy last week and it was absolutely amazing... a weekend break does wonders for your mental health!!

I'm a country bumpkin too OP and went to Bristol a couple of weeks ago. If anything, it felt safer than our local market town and was quieter than usual.

Not Birmingham, and perhaps aim for somewhere small enough to walk everywhere, but yes anywhere in no immediate danger of lockdown might be rather nice.

Yes - we live in a big city and it's much quieter than usual so IMO it's a great time to visit. The only slight downside is that museums, galleries etc are all pre-booked visits only, although when I've booked there's been lots of choice and availability, and it's great to enjoy exhibitions in a less busy way. More restaurants are reservation only, and quite a few of the bars.
